From a 3D design to a real product used on advanced vessels around the world — you make it happen.
Are you technically minded, enjoy working with modern 3D CAD/CAM techniques, and like seeing a design come to life as a finished product? Would you like to work on unique, high-quality products for the international maritime industry, where no day and no project is ever the same? Then we have an exciting opportunity for you.
At Fender Innovations, we are looking for an enthusiastic CNC Programmer / Operator who enjoys taking responsibility and likes working both behind a computer and on the production floor.
CNC Programmer / Operator
Job description:
As a CNC Programmer / Operator, you will be an important link between Engineering, Work Preparation and Production.
You will contribute to the development and production of our tailor-made fender systems, including the moulds and components required to manufacture them. You will translate 3D models and technical designs into practical CNC machining operations and ensure that our machines produce the required components accurately and efficiently.
You will mainly work with PowerMill, Rhino 8 and CNC-controlled machinery.
The best part of this role?
You see the results of your work.
You don't simply your CNC program and hand it over to someone else. You are involved in the complete process — from design and programming through to machining the materials and producing the finished product.
Because our fender systems are fully tailor-made, every project is different. This makes the work both technically challenging and highly varied.
Your duties include:
No two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:
-
Converting 3D models into CNC programs.
-
Preparing technical production details in Powermills.
-
Preparing CNC machining operations.
-
Programming and operating CNC-controlled machines.
-
Manufacturing and machining moulds, components and production aids.
-
Checking dimensions, tolerances and quality requirements.
-
Creating, verifying, and fine-tuning CNC machining operations where necessary.
-
Identifying and solving technical issues during the production process.
-
Contributing ideas for more efficient production methods and technical improvements.
-
Working closely with Engineering and Production to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
-
Inspecting finished components and fender systems.
-
Preparing and maintaining technical production documentation.
-
Contributing to new product development and improvements to existing products.
From computer to production floor
At Fender Innovations, we believe it is important for our engineers and technical employees to understand what happens on the production floor. That is why this role is not limited to working behind a computer.
You will regularly be involved in production, discuss technical challenges with your colleagues and see your designs turn into real products. This gives you a broad technical role in which CAD/CAM and production come together.
It is an ideal position for someone who wants to understand not only how something works, but also how to actually make it.
Job requirements:
We are not looking for someone who simply ticks every box on a list of qualifications. We are primarily looking for someone with technical insight, curiosity and the motivation to develop their skills further.
Ideally, you have:
-
MBO-level education or equivalent technical experience, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Metalworking, Marine Engineering or a similar technical field.
-
Experience with or a strong interest in CNC technology.
-
Experience operating CNC machines is an advantage, but is certainly not essential.
-
Experience with 3D CAD software is an advantage.
-
Experience with PowerMill and Rhino 8 is a strong advantage.
-
Good technical and spatial awareness.
-
Experience 3D models and tolerances.
-
An affinity with machining and production processes.
-
A precise and quality-focused approach to your work.
-
The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
-
A practical and solution-oriented mindset.
-
Good command of Dutch and/or English, both spoken and written.
A category B driving licence is an advantage.
-
Don't have extensive CNC experience yet?
If you have a technical background and are motivated to learn the profession, we would still very much like to hear from you. For us, motivation, technical aptitude and the willingness to learn are just as important as previous experience.
This is who you are
You are naturally curious and like to understand how things work and why they work the way they do. You enjoy getting to the bottom of a technical challenge and finding a practical solution. You take pride in your work and enjoy seeing an idea develop from a digital design into a real, high-quality product.
You are:
-
Technically curious and eager to understand how things work.
-
Accurate and quality-conscious, with an eye for detail.
-
Practical and hands-on, you enjoy turning ideas into real products.
-
Independent, while also enjoying working together with your colleagues.
-
Proactive and solution-oriented, always looking for ways to improve.
-
Eager to learn and develop your technical skills.
-
Flexible and able to adapt when projects or priorities change.
-
Communicative and approachable, and comfortable sharing ideas with others.
-
Responsible and reliable, taking ownership of your work.
-
Motivated to grow, both professionally and technically.
