As Tellent continues to expand its AI capabilities, we're looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel - Product & AI to help us innovate responsibly and confidently. You'll be the primary legal partner for our Product and Engineering teams, helping shape new features from concept to launch while ensuring compliance with evolving AI, privacy and technology regulations. Beyond advising on day-to-day product development, you'll play a key role in building and maturing our AI governance framework, enabling the business to move quickly while managing risk in a practical, business-focused way.
-
During the first 3 months: Get to know Tellent's products, engineering teams and legal processes. Build relationships with Product, Engineering, Security and Privacy stakeholders, familiarise yourself with our AI roadmap, governance framework and vendor approval process, and begin supporting product compliance reviews. You'll quickly take ownership of AI vendor app approvals and contribute to your first AI and product legal assessments.
-
Within 6 months: Independently partner with Product and Engineering teams on new product development, lead legal reviews for AI features, own the AI vendor approval process and play an active role in further developing Tellent's AI governance framework. You'll become a trusted advisor to stakeholders while occasionally supporting the French Commercial Legal team with complex negotiation escalations.
-
After 1 year: Be the go-to legal expert for Product, AI and privacy matters across the business. You'll help shape Tellent's long-term AI governance strategy, continuously improve scalable legal processes, proactively identify legal risks and opportunities, mentor more junior team members where appropriate, and influence product strategy from the earliest stages of development.
-
Product & AI Legal Partnering: Work closely with Product and Engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle, providing practical legal advice on new features, AI functionality and regulatory compliance from design through launch.
-
AI Governance & Compliance: Help build, implement and continuously improve Tellent's AI governance framework, conduct AI Act assessments, develop internal policies and guidance, and enable responsible AI innovation across the business.
-
Privacy, Technology & Vendor Reviews: Conduct product compliance reviews, advise on GDPR and privacy-by-design requirements, review AI and technology vendors, perform vendor app approvals and support broader technology risk assessments.
-
Commercial & Cross-Functional Legal Support: Provide pragmatic legal advice across the business and, for approximately 5% of your time, support the French Commercial Legal team with complex customer negotiation escalations involving product, AI or privacy matters.
-
Collaboration: You'll work daily with Product Managers, Engineering, Security, Privacy, Design and Customer Support teams, while partnering closely with the Legal team and senior business stakeholders. You'll be part of a collaborative Legal team of four lawyers, reporting directly to the VP Legal.
-
Senior Product Counsel Experience: Extensive experience serving as legal counsel to Product and Engineering teams within a SaaS or technology company, including deep expertise in AI-related legal matters. You are comfortable advising on complex product development, emerging technologies, and evolving regulatory frameworks.
-
AI, Privacy & Technology Expertise: Strong knowledge of the EU AI Act, GDPR and privacy-by-design principles, with experience conducting product compliance reviews and advising on AI governance and technology risk.
-
Business-Oriented Mindset: You provide pragmatic, risk-based advice, enjoy solving complex legal questions and enable innovation while maintaining compliance.
-
Autonomy & Ownership: You're comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities and building trusted relationships with stakeholders across the business, while knowing when to escalate or seek input.
-
Communication: Fluent in English and French (written and spoken). You communicate complex legal concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences and enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams in an international environment.
