We’re on a mission to accelerate the energy transition with sustainable home energy for all and it’s our goal to help 3 million households transition by 2030. That is why we’re seeking a highly motivated and ambitious person that’s not afraid to make their hands dirty and make a real dent in the climate change challenge that we are already facing. Are you ready to rise to the challenge?
Design and develop mechanical systems and components using CAD software, structuring models for simulation, analysis, and collaborative, multi-engineer workflows
Translate conceptual designs into detailed, production-ready components, taking manufacturing methods (e.g. molding, machining, welding) and serviceability into account from the outset
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles, and use GD&T on drawings and 3D models to ensure design intent is clearly communicated
Investigate design and production issues using structured root cause analysis (e.g. 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams) and implement corrective and preventive actions
Develop and execute test plans, and lead the prototyping, testing, and analysis of mechanical systems
Support the manufacturing process by providing technical assistance and troubleshooting issues
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, or a related field
3-5 years of relevant working experience, with demonstrated exposure to both mechanical design and industrial/product design
Strong proficiency in CAD software such as Fusion 360, or similar tools
A solid, working understanding of production processes — sheet metal design, plastic injection molding, and/or piping and couplings — and how to design for manufacturability, assembly, and service
Working knowledge of structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methods, and an understanding of quality processes such as dimensional inspection and fit-and-finish requirements
A good eye for aesthetics, form, and human-centered design, with hands-on experience in (or a strong affinity for) CMF selection and specification
Comfortable sketching or visualizing concepts and building appearance prototypes to test with users.
Strong collaboration and communication skills — comfortable working with senior engineers, designers, and installers
Ability to produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications and test plans
A problem-solving attitude and a hunger to learn
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and fluent in English
