Do you take pride in lifting clients’ worldwide VAT burden by ensuring filings are correct, on time, and fully compliant with local rules? Join us! Global VAT Compliance (GVC) is hiring a German VAT Compliance Manager (or Senior Specialist) to work remotely, preferably based in Germany / Austria / Switzerland. Full-time (40 hours/week) preferred.

- - Preparation and filing of VAT/GST returns
  - ESL/ZM listings and Intrastat declarations
  - VAT/GST registrations
  - Fiscal representation (where applicable)
  - Support with administrative obligations and audits

Our clients span online retail, digital services, and global B2B operations. We’re headquartered in The Hague with offices in Tbilisi, Tirana, Bangalore, and Davao City, serving clients in 90+ countries. Our ~120-person, 20+-nationality team makes GVC a dynamic, collaborative place to work.

Responsibilities

As the German VAT Compliance Manager, you will oversee all aspects of GVC’s German VAT (Umsatzsteuer) compliance portfolio. You will:

- - Manage a portfolio of compliance clients, coordinating with subcontractors, resellers, and German tax authorities (Finanzämter).
  - Review German and multi-country VAT returns prepared by GVC teams.
  - Ensure on-time submissions of USt-VA (advance VAT returns), USt annual returns, Zusammenfassende Meldungen (ZM), Intrastat, and OSS/IOSS where applicable.
  - Review VAT registrations/deregistrations and communication with German tax authorities and via ELSTER.
  - Lead client communications: respond to inquiries, provide status updates, and flag relevant VAT changes in Germany/EU.
  - Support audits and information requests from tax authorities; prepare responses and remedy actions.
  - Contribute to process improvements and knowledge sharing across our international team.

Profile

- - 2–5+ years of hands-on German VAT compliance (ideally with multi-country exposure).
  - Excellent verbal and written German (C1/C2) and fluent English.
  - Confident communicator with clients and tax authorities.
  - Strong deadline discipline; organized and detail-driven.
  - Comfortable working independently and as part of a distributed team.
  - Client-focused, proactive, motivated, and data-driven.
  - Eager to keep up with German/EU VAT developments.
  - Nice to have: Experience with ELSTER, BZSt processes, OSS/IOSS, e-commerce (e.g., marketplaces, FBA), and working with local country-specific electronic requirements.
