- Student Guidance & Development:
- Actively manage and guide student behaviour during science lessons, providing clear corrections and redirection aligned with the teacher's expectations and school values.
- Guide individual students or small groups with activities after they have received initial instruction from the teacher.
- Stimulate students to listen, tidy up, concentrate, and ask questions effectively during practical activities.
- Execute (individual) educational arrangements and support plans following consultation with the teacher.
- Identify and proactively discuss with the teacher which students require extra guidance or support.
- Log any incidents on the school systems, in consultation with the teacher, regarding student behaviour.
- Materials & Environment:
- Prepare and organise teaching materials and resources during the lesson to ensure they are ready for lesson delivery.
- Contribute to the maintenance of an organised, safe, and welcoming science classroom environment.
- Manage the inventory of practical materials during lessons and notify the teacher of items needing replacement or replenishment.
- Support the organisation of school activities, trips, and celebrations.
- Communication & Professionalism:
- Contribute to meetings with parents, upon request and together with the teacher, regarding practical student matters.
- Participate in team meetings and working groups to contribute ideas for improving classroom practices and school initiatives.
- Actively participate in professional development and training related to science safety, student guidance, and educational best practices.
- Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to guide and correct student behaviour effectively.
- Practically oriented knowledge of student guidance and educational support.
- Familiarity with group processes to effectively manage classroom dynamics.
- Calm and patient under pressure, with a genuine interest in working with and motivating students.
- Recent work experience as a classroom assistant, or a similar role, in secondary education is desirable but not essential.
- Good ICT skills within an educational context.
- Excellent knowledge of the English language (both spoken and written); the ability to speak other European languages is an advantage.
- Experience in international and/or intercultural education is highly valued.
- Valid First Aid certificate (or a willingness to complete training).
- No science experience is necessary since training will be given where required.
- Resident in the Netherlands, with the right to work here.

- We offer a salary aligned with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement (CAO VO). The salary is a minimum of €2524 and a maximum of €3270 for a full-time contract on scale 4 and the step offered will depend on your level of experience.
