Senior Azure AI Platform Engineer | AKS Migration | Major Dutch Bank
We are looking for a senior Python and cloud engineer with deep Azure Kubernetes expertise to join a strategic AI platform migration at one of the Netherlands’ largest banks. You will take ownership of re-engineering a live AI use case from an Azure Machine Learning environment onto an internal Kubernetes-based platform. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role with a delivery target of end of Q4 2026.
About the role
You will be responsible for the technical migration of a production AI use case, currently running in Azure Machine Learning, onto an internal platform built on Azure Kubernetes Service. Your work spans the full engineering stack: designing and setting up Azure infrastructure, building CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, migrating and re-engineering Python application code for a containerised Kubernetes environment, and developing automated test coverage across the stack.The role requires someone who can work independently on agreed deliverables while collaborating closely with internal engineers and product stakeholders.
About you
- 5+ years with Python, Spark, Git, and Azure DevOps
- 5+ years delivering production ML or AI solutions on cloud platforms, Azure preferred
- Expert-level AKS – you have owned production Kubernetes workloads, not just tested them
- Experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure Document Intelligence, and applied AI concepts such as RAG, embeddings, and chunking
- Able to build production APIs in Python using FastAPI or similar frameworks
- Familiar with queue and messaging services such as Redis, MQ, or cloud-managed equivalents
- Solid testing discipline across unit and automated testing
- Strong communicator in English with the ownership mindset to drive a workstream independently
