How do you make our customers happy?
By realizing the full possibilities of bol’s interaction data. For shoppers, partners, advertisers, and colleagues alike. As the Senior Product Manager of the Shop Insights team, you sit at the heart of our interaction data ecosystem: connecting producers and consumers, maintaining the single source of truth for every click, search, and purchase across the platform. With hundreds of millions of events flowing through our systems daily, you ensure that data is clean, expertly governed, and ready to power the personalization and AI-driven decisions that shape the future of shopping.
The biggest challenge
The platform is built, but the next challenge is even harder: what can it become? Bol recently migrated to a next-generation customer interaction data platform. A significant achievement, but just a stepping stone. It’s up to you to write the next chapters of the roadmap. How do you evolve a reliable data foundation into an intelligent system that continuously improves its own usability? How do you introduce AI-powered capabilities without destabilizing the robust operational foundation that teams depend on daily? And how do you align dozens of internal consumers (each with their own ‘highly cherished’ priorities) around a vision that serves all of them well?
What you do as the Senior Product Manager – Shop Insights
You’re the guardian of bol’s single source of truth for customer interaction data. The platform processes events via Pub/Sub, ingests them into GCP BigQuery for cleaning, transformation, enrichment, and classification – including bot detection – and delivers validated data to operational and analytical consumers in real time. This makes for a complex infrastructure with organization-wide impact: informed decision-making, operational efficiency, and cost reduction all depend on us. The platform clearly still has room to grow, for example, by adding new data sources, expanding our analytical tooling, and delivering insights to additional internal consumers. Determining how to maximize our value lies at the heart of this position.
Your role combines strategic vision with daily execution. You own the roadmap, prioritize ruthlessly, and stay up close and personal with your consumers, understanding what they need before they even know how to ask for it. You manage stakeholder relationships across dozens of teams, bridge engineering complexity into business solutions, and ensure data quality, governance, and compliance remain non-negotiable. Key responsibilities:
Develop and execute the long-term platform vision, including AI-enhanced capabilities
Drive strategy and execution for bot detection and classification
Manage stakeholder relationships across the organization
Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance across all customer interactions
Collaborate closely with engineering on daily product operations
Shape the future of data-driven shopping through strategic planning and roadmap ownership
Why you can make the difference
You combine deep product management experience with genuine expertise in data platforms. Maybe not detailed enough to review code, but more than sufficient to earn respect in technical rooms and translate what you hear into decisions that hold up. You’re comfortable with ambiguity at the strategic level and disciplined at the operational level: clarifying roadmaps one hour, and grooming backlogs the next. Your knack for stakeholder management really helps; you align teams with competing priorities without making it feel like a negotiation. And your interest in AI is not because it’s a buzzword but because you see it as a practical tool for making a data platform smarter. About itself. And for others.
3 reasons why this is (not) for you
Switch to find out
-
Frontend fanatic
You prefer working on end-user features rather than the backend systems that make them possible
-
Short-term operator
Defining a multi-year data platform vision probably sounds compelling to someone. But that someone is not you.
-
Collaboration cautious
Interpersonal skills aren’t your strength, and you hesitate to drive alignment across stakeholders who don’t naturally agree
+
Data disciple
You preach the data platform gospel. Because you realize its potential to make shopping better. And better still.
+
Technical translator
You explain complex technical decisions to business stakeholders without losing the engineers in the room. And the other way around.
+
Vision setter
A mostly blank AI roadmap is the most beautiful starting point of all. And a fully drawn one is a fulfilling achievement.
This is where you’ll work
You’ll join the Shop Insights team at the core of bol’s data architecture — a technically strong group building infrastructure solutions that enhance every aspect of the platform. The environment values both architectural rigor and practical impact. With 2,900 colleagues serving 13.7 million customers and 47,000 partners, what you build here doesn’t stay in the backend. It shows up in every recommendation, every search result, and every decision the platform makes. The foundation exists. Now it needs a vision. The floor is yours.
