About Episode Group
Episode Group is an international family business in secondhand fashion. It started in 1988 on a market stall at Waterlooplein in Amsterdam; today we operate in six European countries (NL, BE, FR, DE, DK, and NO), with over 200 employees, 17 stores, and a wholesale business. The second generation now leads the company and has ambitious growth plans.
Our organisation consists of three interconnected entities: Gaia (international sourcing and wholesale), Hemera (processing and logistics), and Episode (retail). This combination of wholesale to retail under one roof makes the financial story behind Episode Group just as multifaceted as the product itself.
About the role
As Financial Controller, you’ll have a broad and varied scope: tracking the figures for our wholesale operations (Gaia), our processing entity (Hemera), and our retail stores (Episode) across six countries. You’ll help maintain clear financial administration within a fast-growing organisation, making you an essential part of that growth.
The organisation moves at a fast pace. That calls for someone who keeps an overview, analyzes sharply, and has a feel for the dynamics of retail and fashion.
What you’ll do
- Maintain accurate financial administration;
- Work closely with the CFO;
- Collaborate with accountants across Europe on monthly, quarterly, and annual closings;
- Prepare and analyze reports for our international entities (Gaia, Hemera, Episode);
- Spot trends and irregularities in our retail and wholesale figures;
- Support the CFO with budgeting and forecasting;
- Contribute ideas for improving processes and reporting structures;
- Collaborate with colleagues across six European countries;
- Carry out ad hoc analyses to support management.
Who are we looking for
We’re looking for an entry-level or junior Financial Controller (0–5 years of work experience) with a Bachelor’s or Master’s level of thinking. You speak and write good English and can make yourself understood in Dutch.
You have an affinity for numbers and for secondhand fashion, and you’re eager to learn about both. A finance background isn’t strictly required, as long as you enjoy working with numbers.
You’re analytically strong, precise, and communicate clearly. Affinity with retail, fashion, or the broader retail industry is a plus and helps you put the figures in the right context. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Odoo or SAP is a plus. You enjoy working directly under the CFO and want to help her professionalize the organization further.
You combine independence with a proactive, collaborative attitude toward colleagues across different countries and entities.

This role offers growth toward a (medior/senior) Financial Controller position, or a broader financial role within the group with more responsibility for specific entities or countries.

Salary
A salary between €2,900 and €3,300 gross per month on a full-time (40-hour) basis;
