This is not a standard massage job. Read this carefully before you apply.
Most massage therapists press hard and call it deep tissue. They work where the client says it hurts. They finish, say "drink water," and move on. That is not what we do.
At Tension Treat, every first session starts with a body analysis. Posture, mobility, muscle balance, compensation patterns. We find where the problem actually comes from, not just where it hurts. Then we treat the cause with targeted deep tissue work. And the client leaves with a plan: what we found, why their complaint keeps coming back, and what needs to happen next.
This combination of screening, targeted treatment, and a clear plan of action is what sets us apart. It is why we have 625+ five-star Google reviews. It is why we treat 200+ clients per month. And it is why we recently opened our second location.
If that sounds like how you already think about treatment, keep reading.
Why this matters now
A few months ago we opened our second location at Hulstweg 12, Amsterdam Noord, right next to Train More. We now run 4 treatment rooms across two locations, and the schedules are filling faster than we can hire. We are looking for 2-3 more Sportmasseurs (Freelance/ZZP) who can keep up with the standard and want to build something long-term with us.
What we are looking for in a Sportmasseur (Freelance/ZZP)
Be honest with yourself before you apply. We need someone who:
- Truly understands anatomy. Not just "I know where the trapezius is" but "I understand why this client's neck pain is caused by their anterior pelvic tilt and shortened hip flexors." You need to know what you are releasing, why you are releasing it, and what it connects to.
- Can perform a body analysis. You look at a client's posture, check their mobility, assess their muscle balance, and identify compensation patterns before you put your hands on them. If you have never done this, this role is probably not for you yet.
- Communicates clearly. You explain what you found during the analysis. You tell the client what you did during the session and why. You give them direction: exercises, posture adjustments, a recommendation for follow-up. Our clients expect to understand what is happening with their body, not just lie there and hope for the best.
- Is result-driven, not routine-driven. Every session has a goal. You treat based on what the body shows you, not based on a fixed 60-minute routine you repeat on every client.
- Has a background in physiotherapy, sports massage, deep tissue, or a related field. Ideally a combination. A diploma is required. Experience with recovery-oriented, cause-focused treatment is what matters most.
- Is social, professional, and takes ownership. You are the face of the treatment. Your energy, your communication, and your professionalism matter as much as your hands.
- Wants to build long-term. We invest serious coaching time in every new therapist. We are not looking for a temporary stop between jobs or a side project next to your own studio.
To be clear: if your background is mainly spa, wellness, or relaxation massage, this is not the right fit. We respect that work, but it is a different profession than what we do here.
What you will actually do as a Sportmasseur (Freelance/ZZP) at Tension Treat
- Perform body analyses: assess posture, mobility, and compensation patterns before treatment
- Deliver targeted deep tissue and sports massage treatments, cause-focused, not symptom-focused
- Explain findings to clients in clear, simple language
- Advise on exercises, posture, and recovery between sessions
- Guide clients through a treatment process with measurable progress
What we offer our Sportmasseurs (Freelance/ZZP)
- Starting rate of €35 per hour (excl. BTW) with real growth potential. Your rate increases based on your performance, client retention, and commitment. We reward Sportmasseurs who deliver results and grow with us. On top of that, we work with a bonus system.
- A full client base from day one. Our lead flow is strong: 90-130 new clients come in every month and both locations are filling up. You are not starting from zero. You will have a full schedule quickly.
- Personal coaching from the founder. Artjom (10+ years experience, sports education, sports massage certification, trained by physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, and manual therapists) personally coaches every new Sportmasseur on the Tension Treat method, client experience, and session flow. You will get better here.
- Two locations in Amsterdam Noord. A boutique studio inside a private gym (Schooltuinpad 5) and our second location next to Train More (Hulstweg 12).
- Free parking at the door for both you and your clients.
- Free gym access, showers, and coffee.
- Flexible scheduling, 7 days a week. You manage your own hours. Full-time roster possible or choose your own days. We value consistency and availability.
Before you apply
Go to our Instagram or TikTok: @tensiontreat. Watch how we work. Look at the body analyses, the deep tissue sessions, the client reactions. If you see yourself in that, apply. If you do not recognize your own way of working in what you see, this is probably not the right fit.
How to apply
Send your CV and a short motivation to [email protected].
Tell us:
- What is your treatment background and what techniques do you specialize in?
- How do you assess a client before you start treating them?
- Why does Tension Treat's approach appeal to you specifically?
If your application stands out, we invite you for a trial treatment where you demonstrate your technique, your analysis, and your communication. That is how we select our Sportmasseurs (Freelance/ZZP): not on paper, but on the table.
