About the Role
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting, managing, and improving a highly automated logistics environment. You operate at the intersection of technology, processes, and operations, ensuring system stability, continuous improvement, and effective stakeholder collaboration.
This role focuses on process discipline, ITIL-based problem management, structured decision-making, and clear communication. You will take ownership of technical disruptions, analyze structural issues, and contribute to sustainable improvements within operations.
Your Responsibilities
Process Ownership (MFD)
Manage and monitor the end-to-end MFD workflow
Ensure consistent and correct execution of process steps
Identify and document process deviations and bottlenecks
Ensure timely follow-up to maintain operational stability
Problem Management (ITIL)
Differentiate between incidents and structural problems
Manage problem tickets throughout the full lifecycle
Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using methods such as 5 Whys and Fishbone
Define and track corrective and preventive actions
Stakeholder Management
Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders
Actively gather required input from Operations, Maintenance (KNAPP), and IT
Maintain clear and structured communication (written and verbal)
Ensure alignment between all involved parties
Continuous Improvement
Identify improvement opportunities based on analysis outcomes
Assess business impact and associated risks
Develop and present Continuous Improvement (CI) proposals
Support implementation and follow-up of improvements
What You Bring
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, Mechatronics, IT, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
Competencies
Strong analytical mindset
Excellent communication skills
Proactive attitude with a strong sense of ownership
Resilient under pressure and well-structured
Able to work cross-functionally
Curious and eager to understand complex systems
Preferred
Basic understanding of ITIL frameworks
Affinity with automation systems (PLCs, WCS/WMS)
Experience with problem-solving methodologies (RCA, Lean, etc.)
