Do you want to do more than just work? Do you want to learn a skilled trade and create something you can be proud of? Are you ready for something different?
Maybe you've been in the same job for a while. Perhaps you would like to spend less time behind a desk and more time working with your hands. Or maybe you are simply ready for a new challenge where you can learn new skills and develop yourself. Then this could be the perfect time for a career change.
Fender Innovations is looking for an enthusiastic Production & Fender assembly Technician to join our manufacturing and finishing team in Wieringerwerf, the Netherlands. No experience is required. We will teach you the trade.
What are we looking for?
Someone who is practical, curious, willing to roll up their sleeves and who would be proud to say: “I made this.”
From raw materials to a fender that travels the world
At Fender Innovations, we don't make standard products. We develop and manufacture high-strength, lightweight fender systems for the international marine industry. Our fenders are used on lifeboats, fast intervention vessels, tenders, superyachts and other specialized vessels. And the great thing is: You get to help build them.
You will learn step by step how our fenders are constructed, shaped and finished. You will work with different materials and tools and learn how separate components are transformed into a high-quality finished product. It is hands-on work, but it is certainly not simple work. A fender doesn't just have to look good. It has to be technically right. Dimensions, shape, radii and finishing all have to meet our exacting standards.
That is why we are looking for someone who enjoys learning, works accurately and has a good eye for detail.
What will you be doing?
As a Production & Fender assembly Technician, you will work together with your colleagues to manufacture our fender systems. You will start with practical, on-the-job training, where experienced colleagues will teach you everything you need to know. Your responsibilities will include:
- Learning how to build and manufacture our fender systems.
- Working with a variety of materials and tools.
- Accurately shaping fenders.
- Checking dimensions, shapes and radii.
- Carrying out intermediate quality checks.
- Supporting your colleagues with various production activities.
- Keeping your work area clean, organized and safe.
- Working together with the team to achieve a high-quality product.
As your skills and experience grow, you will gradually take on more responsibility.
You may start without experience, but you will finish with a skilled trade.
A job where you can grow
We are looking for someone who wants to join us for the long term. You will start as a Production Worker and gradually learn the skills needed to become a Fender assembly Technician. But perhaps, along the way, you will discover that you want to go further. We like that.
At Fender Innovations, there are opportunities to develop your skills and progress into other technical roles or take on greater responsibility within the team. We don't just look at where you are today. We also look at where you want to go.
Who are you?
We are not looking for the perfect CV. In fact, your CV doesn't need to be packed with technical qualifications or years of experience. We are primarily interested in you as a person.
Are you someone who:
- Enjoys working with your hands?
- Is practical and hands-on?
- Is curious and eager to learn new things?
- Has a good eye for detail?
- Can work accurately and to precise dimensions?
- Is willing to take responsibility?
- Isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in?
- Can work independently while also enjoying working as part of a team?
- Knows how to get things done?
- Is flexible and enjoys variety?
- Has an interest in technology and manufacturing?
- Is communicative and a good team player?
- Holds a full driving licence (Category B)?
- Has a good command of Dutch and/or English, both spoken and written?
Then you could be a great fit for us.
Experience in building fenders is not required. A formal qualification is not essential.
What matters most to us?
The right attitude, motivation and a genuine willingness to learn a skilled trade.
Who is Fender Innovations?
At Fender Innovations in Wieringerwerf, we have been developing and manufacturing innovative fender systems for the international marine industry since 2012. We don't make standard products. We create tailor-made solutions specifically designed and built for the vessel and the application they are intended for.
Our fenders are used worldwide on lifeboats, fast intervention vessels, tenders, superyachts and other specialised vessels. No project is the same. Because each fender system is specifically designed and manufactured for a particular vessel, you will constantly work on new products and face different challenges.
You will see your work take shape step by step: from separate materials and components to a complete, high-quality fender system that eventually finds its place on board a vessel somewhere in the world. And perhaps one day you will see a vessel and think: “Hey, those are our fenders. We build those back in Wieringerwerf.” That is what makes working at Fender Innovations special.
You don't make an anonymous product. You make something unique – something you can genuinely be proud of. And that's a lot more satisfying than knowing you have produced the hundred-thousandth identical component of the day.
