Institutional Research (IR) Assistant
Department: Marketing & Communication

Contract size: 0.1 fte – 0.2 fte (4 to 8 hours per week)
Full-time gross monthly salary: €3.084 – €3.141
Contract duration: 12 months
Intended start date: 01-09-2026
Are you a detail-oriented student who enjoys working with data, research information, and market insights? Join Tilburg University’s Institutional Research team as a Student Assistant and gain valuable hands-on experience in an academic environment.
This flexible part-time role is an excellent opportunity to strengthen your CV with relevant experience in institutional research, data quality management, benchmarking, and market analysis. After an initial onboarding period, you will have the freedom to organise your work independently in terms of time and location.
Your main responsibility will be supporting the monitoring and improvement of research information quality, including checking publication and citation data in academic databases. In addition, you may contribute to alumni research, desk research, quantitative analyses, and various projects within Marketing & Communication.
Your position
As a Student Assistant Institutional Research, you will support the Institutional Research team within Tilburg University’s Marketing & Communication department. Your main structural responsibility will be monitoring the accuracy and completeness of Tilburg University’s research information in key academic databases, such as Web of Science and Scopus.
You will regularly check these databases for incorrect author affiliations, missing links to Tilburg University, and citation-related issues. Ensuring that publications and citations are correctly attributed to Tilburg University is important for the university’s visibility, research profile, and position in international rankings. You will receive a thorough introduction to the process, including clear instructions and guidelines to help you perform these checks independently.
In addition to this core responsibility, you may support a variety of other Institutional Research and market research activities, such as:
- conducting LinkedIn research into the labour market position and career outcomes of specific groups of alumni;
- performing desk research to support market research projects;
- assisting with quantitative benchmark analyses and data comparisons;
- contributing to ad hoc research questions and projects that arise throughout the year within Marketing & Communication.
After one or two onboarding sessions, the work can largely be carried out independently. The role offers a high degree of flexibility: you can determine when and where you work, in consultation with the team. The number of hours per month will be agreed upon based on the availability of both the student assistant and the available tasks, with a maximum of 32 hours per month.
Your profile
We are looking for a student who works accurately and systematically, has an affinity with data, and enjoys working independently. A good command of English is required; proficiency in Dutch is considered a strong advantage.
You are enrolled as a student at Tilburg University and have obtained at least 60 ECTS in a university bachelor's program or are following a master's program.
