Job Summary
The Farm Worker will assist in the daily operations of a poultry processing farm, including handling live birds, supporting processing activities, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring smooth workflow across the facility. The role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety, hygiene, and biosecurity protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Live Bird Handling
- Assist in receiving, loading, and unloading birds.
- Safely and humanely handle live poultry during processing activities.
- Monitor the condition of birds and report abnormalities.
Processing Operations
- Support defeathering, evisceration, cutting, and cleaning processes.
- Help in weighing, sorting, and packaging processed chicken.
- Ensure proper labeling and arrangement of products for storage or dispatch.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance
- Clean processing areas, equipment, crates, and work surfaces before and after operations.
- Maintain high hygiene and sanitation standards within the processing environment.
- Assist with minor equipment checks and report any faults or safety hazards.
Biosecurity & Safety
- Follow all biosecurity rules, including proper use of PPE and work uniforms.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures to prevent contamination.
- Maintain proper waste disposal practices and support environmental cleanliness.
Requirements
- SSCE or relevant practical experience in poultry farms or food processing facilities.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of hygiene, food safety, or processing operations (advantage).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Reliability, honesty, and willingness to work in cold or wet environments.
- Availability to work early mornings, weekends, or overtime when required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in poultry processing or livestock handling.
- Ability to operate basic processing equipment.
- Basic record-keeping skills for stock, weights, and daily operations.
