Internship Title
586188 Product Design Internship – Philips Avent Experience Innovation
Your role:
At Philips Avent, we design meaningful product experiences that support parents and babies in everyday moments of care: feeding, soothing, pumping, sleeping and monitoring.
Within our Experience Innovation team, we explore the future of baby care and translate early opportunities into tangible product concepts, prototypes and experiences. We work at the intersection of consumer insight, product design, technology, materials, CMF, usability and brand experience.
We are looking for a talented T-shaped Product Design student with strong physical product design skills, a sensitivity for user experience, and the ability to make ideas tangible quickly. You will work under the guidance of our Experience Design Lead, Eleni Soerjo, and collaborate closely with designers, engineers, researchers and proposition leads across Amsterdam and Eindhoven.
In this role, you will:
- Support front-end innovation projects by creating, visualizing and prototyping new physical product concepts.
- Translate consumer needs and parent trends into meaningful product directions for Philips Avent.
- Create sketches, storyboards, mockups, CAD models, renders and simple prototypes that help teams make decisions.
- Explore future scenarios and vision concepts for where Philips Avent could move in the next 5–10 years.
- Experiment with creative tools such as 3D CAD, rendering, generative AI, animation and short-form video.
- Support quick iteration loops: making, testing, learning and improving concepts based on feedback.
You're the right fit if
- You are studying Industrial Design, Product Design or a closely related physical product design discipline at Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
- You have a strong portfolio showing physical product design thinking, sketching, form development, prototyping and visual communication.
- You enjoy working across the design process: from early exploration to tangible concept development.
- You are interested in the intersection of design, technology, user experience and real consumer products.
- You have experience with, or curiosity for, tools such as SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, KeyShot, Blender or similar.
- You are eager to explore AI-powered creative workflows for concept generation, visualization or fast design iteration.
- You are proactive, collaborative and hands-on.
This role is less suited to students whose portfolio is mainly focused on environmental design, fashion/clothing/textiles, sustainability strategy, service design, or pure digital UX/UI without a strong physical product design component. We are specifically looking for someone who wants to design and prototype tangible consumer products.
Does this sound like you?
Apply now and share your resume together with a portfolio, sketches, prototypes, renders or other self-made work that shows your creativity, product design skills and ability to make ideas tangible.
Graduation: We prefer this to be a regular 6-month internship. A graduation assignment is possible, but only if it can be clearly connected to our innovation projects and leaves enough time to contribute broadly to other team activities.
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
We offer you:
A non-stop growth opportunity within a global multinational company. In addition, we also want to renumerate you well for the opportunity. This includes:
- Monthly full-time allowance between €500 - €700 gross, depending on your education level and if you need to relocate to The Netherlands. Part-time internships receive the allowance pro-rata.
- Housing compensation. Should you need to relocate to near our office, we’ll offer you a monthly allowance of €300,- net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, €255,- net for all other Philips locations. To be eligible, we’ll just ask for the rental contract from your landlord, and your usual home-work travel distance needs to be more than 50 km or 1.5 hours of travel time (for a one way trip).
- Travel compensation, if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. €192,- net as a monthly allowance.
- Paid holidays per internship term.
- The opportunity to buy Philips products at our Philips shop.
