Skills, knowledge, experience required:
- Level 2 – Senior: either a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least 4 years attested by a diploma and relevant professional experience of at least 6 years gained after the award of the diploma OR a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma and relevant professional experience of at least 7 years gained after the award of the diploma;
- At least 3 years of experience in the design sector, including working with general design methodologies, creating and managing Design Systems, usability heuristics, and accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1);
- Participation in a minimum of 3 projects involving the design of a digital application (UX design), for example for a desktop or mobile application;
- Participation in a minimum of 3 projects involving the design of a physical/digital application using for example ARDUINO;
- At least 1 year of experience working on an online community sharing platform, online content management system, or online collaboration tool;
- At least 1 year of experience in scoping, preparing, conducting, and following-up of a strategic design or security design workshop with executive level management;
- At least 1 year of experience of design in a public authority, preferably law enforcement or another organisation dealing with preventing and combating crime;
- Knowledge of general design methodologies, creating and managing Design Systems, usability heuristics, and accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1);
- Knowledge of user-centric design approaches;
- Knowledge of conceptual frameworks such as the Cynefin Framework for decision making, or similar;
- Working knowledge of English (level to be specified: C1 or higher).
Desirable:
- Participation in a minimum 1 project involving in event planning for science or technology communication;
- Knowledge of sustainable design;
- Knowledge of Agile methodology and tools, such as Scrum, Kanban boards, and similar;
- Knowledge of emerging technologies, speculative design approaches, and technology foresight;
- Knowledge of Participatory Design, such as Inclusive Design or Co-Creation.
Duties/role:
- Designing user experiences through conducting UX research with potential users of innovative new tools, mapping specifications, analyzing stakeholders (e.g., creating personas, developing empathy maps), prototyping UX by wireframing and building low- and high-resolution models using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Balsamiq, and testing UX with potential users, including usability studies and using digital design applications like VR or tangible interactions;
- Planning and moderating events/workshops, such as Design Thinking workshops, speculative design workshops, and security or strategic design workshops with senior or executive management;
- Communicating innovatively in science and technology contexts, including producing videos and infographics;
- Ideating and co-creating methodologies for developing innovative solutions;
- Applying user-centred approaches across all design tasks.
