The Matcha Society is looking for a Manager to lead our location in Utrecht. In this role, you are not just managing a store, you are the guardian of our quality and brand identity, leading the new team, and acting as the right hand of the founder.

Your Role
As Manager of our Utrecht location, you are responsible the daily operations of the store. Together with the founder, you’ll continue to build the Maastricht team, establish structure, and safeguard The Matcha Society’s DNA in every detail, from the culture within the team to the quality of every drink, and guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management & Leadership
- Train, coach, and motivate the team to grow with the brand.
- Create and manage staff schedules and shift planning.
- Lead by example with calm energy and a strong service mindset.
- Act as the right hand of the founder and maintain close communication.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee stock levels, supplier relations, and inventory management.
- Restock the store from our nearby offsite storage location.
- Safeguard smooth daily operations: cleanliness, efficiency, and product quality.
- Handle POS and cash flow processes.
Society & Customer Experience
- Guarantee excellence in every drink, dish, and customer interaction.
- Create a welcoming Society feeling, both for guests and within the team.
- Collect and act on guest feedback to ensure satisfaction.
- Protect the quality and brand identity of The Matcha Society at all times.
Planning & Administration
- Monitor daily performance and prepare for peak hours/seasons.
- Keep track of staff hours, workshops, and store planning.
- Share weekly updates and improvement points with the founder.
Workshops & Events
- Coordinate and (after training) lead ceremonial matcha workshops.
- Support and evaluate team members who deliver workshops.
- Help organise in-store events in collaboration with our creative team.
You Are
- Experienced: 5+ years in hospitality, leadership, horeca, lunchroom
- Giving direct feedback on the work floor.
- Entrepreneurial: excited to lead a store with a strong brand identity.
- Structured: skilled in planning, delegation, and constructive feedback.
- Inspiring: excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Aesthetic: strong eye for detail and love for a serene environment.
- Passionate: about wellness, high-quality food & drink, and matcha.
- Responsible: hands-on, committed, and proactive.
- Based in or near Maastricht, available 32–40 hours per week.
- Fluent in Dutch & English.
- In possession of a valid driver’s license and car (required).
