At the Faculty of Technology, Innovation & Society (TIS) of The Hague University of Applied Sciences, you will play a key role in delivering and further developing high-quality engineering education with strong ties to the semiconductor industry. An English-taught track within Electrical Engineering with a semiconductor focus is currently being developed — and you could help shape it.
What will you be doing?
Teaching & Student Supervision (Core of the Role)
As a lecturer, you contribute to future-oriented, practice-based education within the bachelor’s programme in Electrical Engineering.
You will:

Deliver lectures, tutorials and laboratory sessions in Embedded Systems.

Supervise students during projects, internships and graduation assignments.
-
Coach and mentor students in their technical and professional development.
-
Visit internship companies and assess student performance.

Contribute to curriculum development and educational innovation.

Integrate current industry developments into your teaching.
Applied Research (Optional / Additional Opportunity)
If desired, you may contribute to applied research within the Smart Sensor Systems research group. Research themes include:

Autonomous systems for indoor and outdoor environments
-
Navigation and observation systems using multimodal sensing (LiDAR, radar, vision)
-
Wireless communication protocols such as LoRa, NB-IoT and 5G New Radio

About the Faculty of Technology, Innovation & Society (TIS)
TIS provides education to over 4,000 students in programmes such as Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Applied Physics, Industrial Design Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. We work closely with industry and focus on themes including sustainability, digitalisation and high-tech systems.

A completed relevant master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.

A University Teaching Qualification (BDB) or willingness to obtain one.

Recent hands-on experience in Embedded Systems and sensor technology.

Strong command of English.

Strong affinity with coaching and developing young professionals.
Preferred

Experience with pcb-development.

Knowledge of VHDL or Verilog and FPGAs.

Affinity with autonomous systems and practical embedded applications.

Teaching experience or strong motivation to develop as a lecturer.

Dutch language skills or willingness to learn.

An appointment of 0.8-1.0 fte (32-40 hours a week) for a period of one year, starting August 2026. Extension of the appointment depends on the organizational, educational and financial conditions.

A salary between € 4.632,17 and €6.677,44 gross per month (lecturer - scale 11) for a full-time work week.

8% vacation allowance.
