Fulltime
Location: Amsterdam head office, with regular travel to clubs across NL and the UK and possibly extra countries
Given the fast-moving, young and dynamic environment we operate in, we believe we achieve more together, face to face. This is an on-site role with a minimum of 4 days a week in the business (club or head office), close to the team, the brands and the clubs we serve.
About Urban Gym Group
Urban Gym Group (UGG) is one of Europe’s fastest-growing premium fitness groups, operating 60+ clubs and studios across the Netherlands and the UK through a portfolio of distinctive brands including TrainMore, Gymbox, Clubsportive, The CLB, PILAT3S, RUSH and TRIB3. We grow both organically and through acquisition, combining the energy of boutique fitness with the discipline of a scaling, multi-brand operator. As we scale, financial insight is central to how we make decisions from club-level performance to M&A integration. The Head of Business Control is the analytical engine room that turns data into the decisions that drive profitable growth.
Purpose of the role
The Head of Business Control owns business control, planning and performance management across the group. You translate strategy into budgets, forecasts and KPIs; you make club, brand and group performance transparent; and you are the trusted commercial sparring partner to the leadership team. You lead the business control team and raise the bar on the quality, speed and impact of our financial steering.
Key responsibilities
Planning, budgeting & forecasting
- Own the annual budgeting and rolling forecast cycles across all brands and the group, partnering with brand and operations leaders.
- Build and maintain integrated P&L, cash and KPI models that link strategy to financial outcomes.
- Drive scenario and sensitivity analysis for growth plans, new club openings and pricing decisions.
Performance management & business partnering
- Deliver clear monthly performance reporting and variance analysis at club, brand and group level, with actionable insight, not just numbers.
- Act as commercial sparring partner, challenging assumptions and identifying margin and growth opportunities.
- Define and govern the KPI framework (e.g. membership, yield, retention, EBITDA per club and more).
- Investment, M&A & value creation
- Build business cases for new clubs, capex and commercial initiatives, and track delivery against them.
- Support due diligence, valuation and post-merger integration for acquisitions, working with the CFO and investors.
- Process, systems & team
- Improve the quality, automation and timeliness of management information, including BI dashboards and the planning toolset.
- Lead, coach and develop the business control team (6 colleagues), building a high-performing, business-minded function.
- Strengthen financial governance, controls and the link between business control and accounting.
