The Merchandise Club is a fast-growing importer, distributor and product development partner of innovative non-food consumer products for leading European retailers.
From our headquarters in Amsterdam (relocating from Baarn in August 2026), we develop hundreds of new products every year across multiple consumer categories. Together with our manufacturing partners in Asia, we manage the complete process from concept development and sourcing through to production, logistics and in-store execution.
The DACH region is a core part of our business and one of our fastest-growing markets. As demand from our retail partners there keeps growing, we're scaling our commercial team to match, deepening the partnerships we already have and adding new strategic accounts.
To keep pace with that growth, we're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager (DACH).

What does your day look like?
No two days are the same.
One morning you are preparing a commercial presentation for a strategic retail customer. Later that day you negotiate a new listing with a buyer, discuss new product opportunities with an existing account or travel to meet prospective retail partners.
You continuously identify opportunities, strengthen customer relationships and help translate market demand into commercial success.
Your role
As Business Development Manager (DACH), you own our commercial growth across Germany and the wider DACH region, building on a position we've already established.
Your focus is twofold:
- Grow and deepen our existing strategic retail partnerships.
- Win new strategic accounts across the region.
What you will do
Key Account Management
- Own your market. Treat DACH as if it's your own business.
- Grow our existing retail partnerships: spot the next category, the next programme, the next opportunity.
- Coordinate customer projects internally and keep partners genuinely happy.
Business Development
- Win new strategic accounts, from first conversation to signed listing.
- Build lasting relationships with buyers, category managers and commercial decision-makers.
- Develop sharp commercial proposals and presentations that get you to yes.
Market Development
- Keep your finger on retail trends and where the market is heading.
- Be our face across Germany, in buyer offices and at the industry's key trade fairs.
What we're looking for
Must-haves
- Proven experience working directly with German retailers (essential for this role).
- Solid experience in Business Development, Key Account Management or a comparable commercial role.
- Experience working with large retail organisations.
- Experience within consumer products, retail or international trade.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly.
Nice-to-haves
- Professional proficiency in German.
- Experience within non-food consumer goods.
