If you can see yourself shining in one of Tilburg University’s videos on our social media channels, then this opportunity might be just right for you. We are looking for student editors with a talent for presenting, who are eager to create videos for our Communications department. In this role, you will develop, produce, and present videos for our campus community. You will tell the stories of students and experiment with all the possibilities social media has to offer. We would love to hear from you if you are a creative, enthusiastic student who is not camera-shy. You can apply for this position by submitting a video in which you show us what you can do and what your ideas are for our channels.
Your job
As a student editor, you will collaborate with other student editors and support the Newsroom, the Communication department team that manages Tilburg University’s corporate social media channels.
The student editor’s main responsibility is to create content for Tilburg University’s student channels – Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook and YouTube. This involves all tasks related to producing ready-to-publish posts.
Your duties include:
- Coming up with new ideas for both current and long-term social media content;
- Pitching ideas in editorial meetings;
- Meeting communication staff to discuss strategy and planning;
- Reaching out, making appointments, and doing interviews;
- Presenting videos for social media;
- Optional: filming and editing videos.
We meet once a month for an editorial meeting, where we assign concrete tasks that you can log your hours for afterwards. In addition, you’ll occasionally receive spontaneous assignments that respond to current events and trends.
Your qualifications
- We are looking for three to four student editors. Our preference is for a mix of Bachelor’s and Master’s students, both international and Dutch, studying at different Schools. Since we produce videos in both English and Dutch, it’s preferable that you are fluent in both languages, but this is not a requirement. Due to the training period, you must be available for a full academic year. You are enrolled as a student at Tilburg University and have obtained at least 60 ECTS in a university bachelor's program or are following a master's program.
Your talents
As a student editor, you will have the freedom to experiment, in line with the existing content strategy of the Newsroom. You keep up with the latest trends and know how to surprise us with ideas that connect with the student target group. It is also extremely important that you are responsible when it comes to meeting agreements and deadlines. Knowledge of and experience with social media is a must. Student editors take initiative, follow trends, and make sure the student voice is heard on our channels.
