Sourcing Manager
Marflex Europe B.V. | Maritime High-Tech Niche | Global Impact
Some procurement roles are all about price. This one isn't.
At Marflex, sourcing is about something far more important: enabling reliable, high-quality pumping systems that are used worldwide in inland shipping and ocean-going vessels. From Europe to Asia, and from engineering to final assembly, your decisions determine whether our systems continue to operate successfully at sea tomorrow.
About Marflex
Marflex is an international niche player in maritime pumping systems. We design and deliver technical solutions that quite literally make a difference in fluid handling operations on board ships around the world.
With our own production facility in China, a strong European engineering foundation, and as part of a Japanese industrial group, we operate at the heart of a unique triangle of engineering, manufacturing, and international supply chains.
This makes our environment dynamic, technically challenging, and anything but ordinary.
The Role
As a Sourcing Manager, you ensure that our supply chain not only functions effectively but continuously improves.
You operate at the intersection of engineering, commerce, and strategy. One moment, you're discussing new designs with engineers; the next, you're working with suppliers on feasibility, or advising management on costs, risks, and long-term sustainability.
You don't just build relationships with suppliers—you develop a network that strengthens our entire organisation.
This is not a role where you simply "buy products."
This is a role in which you help shape the future direction of our supply chain.
What Drives You
You quickly identify where value is lost within a supply chain, and you enjoy implementing structural improvements. You are comfortable in technical discussions but always look beyond specifications, considering the long-term implications for quality, cost, and supply security.
You move easily between the factory floor, the boardroom, and suppliers across Europe and Asia. You understand that successful negotiations are not just about securing the best deal—they are about understanding how the entire supply chain operates.
What You'll Do (In Brief)
You will define our strategic sourcing approach, focusing on total cost rather than price alone. Working closely with Engineering, you will help develop new products that are smarter, more manufacturable, and commercially sustainable.
You will ensure that our suppliers can meet today's requirements while also being prepared for the products and challenges of tomorrow.
And when issues arise within the supply chain—whether related to quality, delivery performance, or cost—you will take ownership of resolving them while implementing lasting improvements.
Your Scope of Responsibility
You will manage a technical sourcing portfolio valued at approximately €10–12.5 million, covering categories such as:
- Metal components
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Electromechanical systems
- Industrial manufactured parts and assemblies
What You Bring
You combine technical understanding with strong commercial awareness and thrive in complex international supply chain environments.
You have experience in sourcing or procurement within a technical setting and know how to transform suppliers into genuine strategic partners. You think in terms of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than individual transactions, and you are comfortable leading negotiations that truly matter.
What We Offer
A role with genuine influence within an international niche organisation, where your work has a direct and visible impact on our products, customers, and operations.
You will have the opportunity to build, improve, and make decisions that affect global operations. We offer short communication lines, a high degree of autonomy, and a team that is committed to moving forward together.
And, of course, we provide a competitive salary, a company car, and ample opportunities for personal and professional development within a high-tech, international environment.
