As a Database Automation Engineer, you help build Coolblue's cloud platform, automate databases and backups, and ensure applications run securely and reliably. You work closely with development teams to make their environment a little better every day.
Together with your team, you support Coolblue's cloud platform and continue to expand our database infrastructure. You automate recurring tasks such as backups, deployment pipelines, and provisioning new databases using Python and Infrastructure as Code. You help development teams with technical issues, incidents, and version upgrades for their Oracle and Aurora databases. Through effective monitoring, auditing, and smart automation, you keep our data secure and our applications running smoothly, directly contributing to happy customers and happy Coolblue colleagues.
- Building a serverless application in Python that creates a daily backup to S3.
- Improving a problematic SQL statement together with developers.
- Setting up and configuring auditing in an Oracle database.
- Finding the root cause of an issue in a back-end system.
- Adjusting auditing settings in the Oracle database.
- Planning an Aurora version upgrade together with development teams.
- Relevant work experience, for example with cloud platforms and databases.
- A solution-oriented mindset and strong analytical skills.
- Experience with a cloud service, preferably AWS.
- Development experience in Python.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog.
- Experience with Oracle 19c databases and Oracle GoldenGate.
- Familiarity with query tuning and Oracle RDS database architecture.
- You understand the challenges of running Oracle on the AWS platform.
- Preferably knowledge of AWS Aurora or another database running on AWS RDS.
- Preferably an Oracle Database certification.
- Strong prioritization skills across different tasks.
