BARGE PLANNER M/F
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within the international marine fuels industry. You will become part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial organisation operating in a fast-paced trading environment, working closely with leading oil companies, shipping companies, terminals, surveyors and international counterparties.
You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and timely execution of bunker deliveries throughout the ARA region.
Key Responsibilities
As Barge Planner, your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and coordinating bunker deliveries within the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.
- Managing all post-deal operational activities in close cooperation with traders, suppliers, terminals and barge operators.
- Ensuring that all operational instructions and documentation are communicated accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitoring and managing barge inventories and cargo positions.
- Preparing cargo and barge nominations and monitoring voyage progress.
- Coordinating with independent inspection companies.
- Maintaining accurate operational, contractual and shipping documentation.
- Ensuring that all required financial securities and operational approvals are in place.
- Liaising with charterers, suppliers, terminals and customers to ensure seamless execution of operations while minimising delays and demurrage exposure.
- Supporting continuous improvements in operational efficiency, compliance and customer service.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a motivated professional with preferably a few years of experience within the oil, shipping or maritime logistics industry, either in a similar operational role or in production, inspection, terminal operations or shipping.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A commercial mindset combined with a strong customer focus.
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
- A sound understanding of tanker and barge operations, shipping terminology and marine logistics.
- Knowledge of petroleum product specifications, inspection procedures and laboratory testing methods is considered an advantage.
- A proactive, solution-oriented approach with strong problem-solving skills.
- The ability to prioritise effectively and perform under pressure in a dynamic operational environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- A collaborative attitude and the ability to work successfully within an international team.
- A logistics, maritime or nautical background, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
- Excellent command of both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
