We are looking for a Data Steward to serve as the guardian of data trust and governance within our Digital Port Performance team. In this role, you will be the key link between complex industrial operations and cutting-edge analytics, ensuring that our data assets across Azure, Databricks, and Collibra are standardized, secure, and consistently high-quality. You are a "data translator" who can navigate the needs of diverse stakeholders — from commercial leads to external parties — while maintaining a rigorous "detective" mindset to resolve data discrepancies. As we move toward a future of dynamic, just-in-time insights, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our data foundation is not only compliant with regulations like the EU AI Act but is also robust enough to power the next generation of AI-driven port innovation.
You’ll be part of a multifunctional analytics team, comprising data scientists, data stewards, data translators and analytics specialists. Beyond your direct team, you’ll be part of data communities and working groups, so you can learn and work together with likeminded colleagues from different departments and IT. As part of the Digital Port Performance team, you’ll also have close interaction with program managers, business managers and customers of the Port of Rotterdam.
Key responsibilities include:
- Standardize and govern critical data assets related to maritime/hinterland logistics, energy transition, and port industrial activities within Azure, Collibra and Databricks.
- Partner with business stakeholders, IT and other analytics teams to define and implement data management and governance strategies that balance flexibility and security.
- Deliver reports, analyses and presentations regarding data gaps, current data products and sources, compliance guidelines, among others, related to Port Performance portfolio.
- Manage data sharing agreements and sensitivity classifications for internal and external users, ensuring compliance with company guidelines and market regulations (GDPR, EU AI Act, etc).
- Lead the definition and documentation of data objects and business rules in Collibra, Confluence and Sharepoint, ensuring that similar metrics are calculated consistently across data products and clearly communicated to stakeholders.
- Leverage emerging AI features to improve quality monitoring, data lineage and documentation, and interaction with data users.
- Knowledge and interest in semantic modelling, including building ontologies and knowledge graphs (preferably in RDF).
