The Panel Assistant reports to the Sensory Manager, supporting them in ensuring sensory projects run smoothly by managing all laboratory activities related to sensory panel sessions and overseeing tasting operations and efficiency for a leading premium brand located in Utrecht.

Receive, store and prepare samples/materials for all daily sensory panel sessions.
- Research, source, prepare and manage products and sensory references for sensory panel sessions.
- Give basic sensory panel trainings and run evaluation sessions independently for descriptive and discriminative tests
- Ensure that all activities carried out comply with basic food hygiene standards.
- Ensure that sensory panel working areas, and all associated materials and equipment are prepared appropriately for each session and cleaned after.
- Follow, apply and document appropriate research protocols, including identifying and assigning appropriate test design, measurement, solutions preparation
- Maintain and develop kitchen laboratory Standard Operation Procedures by identifying information needs and problems; recommending improvements; establishing priorities;
- Maintain sensory kitchen/laboratory functionality by checking stock to determine needed supplies/products, placing orders, and verifying receipt of supplies/products.
- Program the sensory software (EyeQuestion) for sensory project data collection - training will be provided.
- Assist Sensory manager in administrative duties related to the sensory panel (e.g. timesheets, scheduling, updating databases, coordinating with panellists and contractors)
- Coordinate screening sessions for panellist recruitment
- Promote a positive and pleasant working environment for all at MMR, at all times
- Degree in Food Science/Sensory Science (e.g WO, HBO…) or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency in English and Dutch languages
- Strong organizational skills and great attention to details

- Leadership and good communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationship with colleagues
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours a day and carry up to 20kg packages
- Proactivity and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Computer literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Hands-on experience in a sensory lab is a plus.
Work schedule: Onsite, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM–3:00 PM (30 hours per week).
