The Role
We are seeking a commercially driven and analytically strong Senior Legal Officer to support our operations in the Netherlands within a leading international healthcare and diagnostics group.
This role combines hands-on legal execution, compliance leadership, and regulatory advisory, with a clear mandate to enable the business while safeguarding patient safety, regulatory compliance, and ethical standards.
You will act as a trusted partner to the local management team and business functions, operating within a risk-based, value-driven Legal & Compliance framework, and contributing to the ongoing transformation of the function towards increased efficiency, standardization, and business enablement.
You report to an above market Head of Legal & Compliance function with a dotted line to the Dutch General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal (Commercial & Corporate)

Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
-
Customer and framework agreements (public and private sector)
-
Supplier and outsourcing agreements
-
Partnership and collaboration agreements
-
Provide strategic legal support in procurement processes
-
Advise on corporate law matters, governance and internal decision-making processes
-
Support transactions, partnerships and business development initiatives
-
Manage disputes and litigation, including coordination with external counsel
-
Deliver pragmatic, risk-calibrated legal advice aligned with business priorities
2. Compliance & Ethics
-
Drive and support the compliance framework across the Netherlands, including:
-
Anti-corruption and anti-bribery
-
Fraud prevention and internal controls
-
Third-party due diligence and integrity screening
-
Conflicts of interest management
-
Promote a culture of transparency, accountability and ethical conduct
-
Implement policies, procedures, training and awareness programs
-
Ensure alignment with group compliance standards and reporting requirements
3. Data Protection & Information Governance
-
Provide legal support on GDPR and data protection matters, including:
-
Data processing arrangements and governance structures
-
Data subject rights and regulatory interactions
-
DPIAs and risk assessments (in collaboration with group privacy specialists)
-
Support integration of data protection into operational and clinical workflows
4. Regulatory Affairs & Clinical Compliance
-
Advise on healthcare regulatory frameworks applicable to diagnostic services, including:

National healthcare legislation and supervisory requirements
-
Patient safety and quality standards
-
Professional and clinical governance frameworks
-
Provide legal/regulatory input on clinical processes and service delivery models, including:
-
Use of medical technology and AI in clinical workflows
-
Interaction with healthcare professionals and institutions
-
Contribute to regulatory risk assessments, inspections and authority interactions
-
Support implementation of clinical compliance programs, in close collaboration with Quality and Regulatory teams
5. Risk Management & Business Partnership

Conduct legal and compliance risk assessments, including forward-looking risk identification
-
Translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical, operational guidance

Partner closely with key stakeholders, including:

Commercial and business development teams
-
Operations, Quality & Group Legal & Compliance
-
Medical and clinical leadership
-
Contribute to process improvements, standardization and self-service tools
-
Support the Legal & Compliance transformation agenda, including efficient use of technology, templates and external counsel
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
-
Master of Laws (LL.M. or equivalent Dutch law degree)
-
Minimum 6–8 years of relevant professional experience, preferably:
-
In-house in a regulated industry (healthcare strongly preferred), and/or
-
At a reputable law firm with relevant practice areas
-
Strong experience in commercial contracting and negotiations
-
Solid understanding of healthcare regulation, clinical compliance and/or medical law
-
Knowledge of data protection (GDPR) is a strong advantage
-
Experience interacting with regulatory authorities is a plus
