Poki is on a mission to create the ultimate online playground, bringing easy access to the best games on web to over 100 million monthly players worldwide. These games are created by a dynamic global community of 500+ game developer teams. At the core of our work lies a simple belief: play is how we learn. This value is embodied by our team of 70 unique individuals who each bring something special to the table.
As a senior Frontend Developer at Poki, you’ll shape how players experience our platform. You will work on high-impact features and improvements, enhancing content discovery, social interactions, and performance. Whether you’re working on improving gameplay experience, running an A/B experiment, or making a new tool for our Content team, your work will directly impact our players.
This is a senior role. That means we expect judgement, not just throughput.
- Building and Optimizing at Scale: You'll help ensure a smooth, lag-free experience for millions of players across various devices and network conditions.
- Contributing to Code Quality: We value clean, maintainable code. Poki is built on top of React + Redux, and you’ll help ensure the long-term quality of our codebase through peer reviews, sustainable practices, and constant improvements.
- Collaborating on Features: Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement features that improve the gameplay experience, community interaction, and player engagement.
- Ensuring a Seamless Multi-Device Experience: Poki is accessed across desktops, tablets, and mobiles. Your role is to make sure everything works smoothly and consistently, regardless of device or screen size.
- Experimenting and Iterating: As part of a fast-moving team, you’ll experiment with new features, launch A/B tests, and constantly refine the platform to improve user experience and performance.
- Have deep frontend craft and the scars to prove it. We care about the scope and complexity of the work you've owned, not how many years you've been doing it.
- Are fluent in React and Redux, and you know how to build SPAs that are still maintainable after year two.
- Have advanced skills in HTML/CSS/JavaScript/TypeScript, creating responsive, performant layouts that work seamlessly across different devices and browsers.
- Write tests, but you don't test things for the sake of watching a number go up. You know which tests are worth writing and you’ve worked with Playwright or something similar.
- Understand that AI has changed how work gets done and you've already adapted your way of working around it. You use it to move faster without handing over your judgement or responsibility for the result.
- Are familiar with Figma or a similar tool, and are comfortable translating designs into interactive web components.
We believe great work comes from feeling supported, trusted, and able to grow. Alongside meaningful professional development in the position mentioned above, we offer:
- A competitive salary, with annual performance reviews.
- Flexible working hours and a culture that genuinely supports a healthy work–life balance.
- €2,000 annual Learning & Development Budget for courses, training, and learning.
- Travel cost reimbursement for employees living outside of Amsterdam.
- 25 days of paid vacation per year, plus additional discretionary days.
- Hybrid work policy, with time split between home and our office, and the option to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
- State-of-the-art equipment, plus a €2,000 work-from-home budget.
- Free breakfast, daily catered lunch, and fresh coffee and drinks in our pet-friendly office at Spui, in the heart of Amsterdam!
Unfortunately this isn’t a remote position, we are looking for someone who will be able to work from our office in Amsterdam regularly.
