At Buitelaar, we are growing fast, and with growth comes change, challenges and plenty of opportunities to improve. We are looking for a hands-on Quality Manager who can help us take our quality systems, processes and standards to the next level.
This isn't a role where you'll spend your whole week writing procedures nobody reads. You'll be out in the operation, working with our teams, suppliers and customers, solving real problems and making sure that quality is at the centre of everything we do.
What will you be doing?
You will take ownership of quality across our storage and production activities, with a strong focus on maintaining our company quality approvals, including BRC, IFS and bespoke customer requirements and approvals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Making sure our products consistently meet our quality, customer and regulatory standards.
- Maintaining our company quality approvals and certifications, including BRC, IFS and specific customer requirements.
- Working closely with our operational and factory teams — quality and operations should work together, not against each other.
- Working closely with suppliers and customers to ensure quality requirements are clearly understood, consistently achieved and at the centre of our business at all times.
- Managing, maintaining and continuously improving our BRC and IFS quality systems.
- Identifying risks before they become problems and implementing practical solutions.
- Taking the quality lead during customer and certification audits.
- Planning and carrying out internal audits.
- Managing supplier onboarding, product specifications, delivery standards and incoming-goods procedures.
- Investigating rejected goods and customer complaints, carrying out root cause analyses and making sure NCRs are properly closed.
- Working with factory operations to ensure customer requirements are understood and consistently achieved.
- Keeping supplier, customer and quality documentation accurate, organised and audit ready.
- Monitoring hygiene, housekeeping and the correct handling of raw materials throughout production.
- Coordinating incoming-goods rejections and making sure the right people receive the right information quickly.
- Looking for smarter, simpler and better ways of working, because quality should continuously improve, not just pass an audit.
- Helping us achieve, maintain and continuously improve the certifications, approvals and quality standards required as the business continues to grow.
Who are we looking for?
Buitelaar is a fast-growing and dynamic business. Things move quickly, plans sometimes change and no two weeks are exactly the same.
So we're looking for someone who enjoys that environment.
You don't panic when something unexpected happens. You investigate, make a decision, communicate clearly and get things moving again.
You are comfortable working independently, but you also understand that great quality comes from getting the whole team involved — from operations and production to suppliers, customers and management.
Ideally, you are:
- Accurate and thorough — details matter to you.
- A strong communicator who can work comfortably with operators, suppliers, customers and management.
- Confident enough to challenge something when it isn't right.
- Practical and solution-oriented — you don't just identify a problem; you help fix it.
- Able to step back from a situation and make rational, commercially sensible decisions.
- Comfortable working independently as well as being part of a wider international team.
- Strong at organising, prioritising and planning.
- Fluent in English.
- Available full-time.
- Experienced with BRC and/or IFS, ideally within food, pet food, animal by-products or a related production environment.
This is a site- and office-based role, as being close to our operations, teams and products is an important part of the position.
Working from home is not an option. Depending on the candidate and business needs, the role can be based at our factory in Weert or our Head Office in Zoetermeer.
You should live within approximately one hour of your chosen work location, as regular presence on site is essential.
We're not looking for someone who simply wants to maintain a quality manual. We're looking for someone who wants to own quality, work closely with our teams, suppliers and customers, improve the operation and make a visible difference to the business.
If you like responsibility, enjoy solving problems and want to join a company where there's still plenty to build and improve, we'd love to hear from you and discuss what we can offer you!
