Being a Product Development Manager at R&B Group;
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role at the heart of our five brands. You decide what we make, develop it into a real product with our suppliers, own its economics, and spar with the internal sales team on each product's potential. Together you decide whether to launch or not, so critical thinking and clear communication matter a great deal.
You'll work from our Tilburg office (minutes from Central Station) at least 3 days per week, with the rest flexible from home. Being in the office matters: you're the hands-on bridge between the product team, the samples and the wider company. You'll also travel a few times a year to industry trade fairs and to our manufacturing partners in China and across Asia.
About us
Roots & Branches is the house behind five consumer brands that design, source and ship physical products worldwide, spanning sleep, connected health, ergonomic furniture, intimate wellness and baby & nursery: Ella Sleeps (weighted blankets, pillows, mattress toppers), FITAGE (smart scales, blood-pressure monitors, app-connected fitness), Backerz (ergonomic chairs, sit-stand desks, wobble stools), Fae (modern intimate wellness: clean, minimal, inclusive) and Yunioo (changing baskets, diaper caddies, silicone tableware).
We're looking for a Product Development Manager to own our products end-to-end, from spotting the right thing to build through to a production-ready, profitable product our sales team can get behind.
What you'll own
- Identify the right products to build: spot opportunities, read the market and make the case for what's next.
- Develop products from concept to production-ready: specs, samples, materials and packaging, on cost and on quality.
- Own the unit economics of every product (landed cost, margin and price) from concept to volume.
- Pitch new products to sales: build the case, present the numbers, win the buy-in to launch.
- Manage timelines and quality through to reliable, repeatable production.
- Be the on-the-ground link in Tilburg: receive and review samples, order and document competitor products, keep the physical product side moving.
What success looks like
- A steady flow of new products from concept to production each year, plus the extensions and improvements that keep the range fresh.
- Every launch commercially validated: signed off by sales and hitting its margin target before production. Quality over volume.
- A pipeline that keeps moving, with early flags when something needs help.
What you'll bring
- Experience developing physical consumer products, ideally with Asia-based manufacturing, in soft goods and/or hard goods.
- Commercially minded: able to build and defend a product's unit economics and pitch it convincingly.
- Hands-on sourcing ability a strong advantage, comfortable managing overseas suppliers.
- Fluent English, happy in an international team across time zones.
- Ready to travel internationally on a regular basis for trade fairs and factory visits in Asia.
- Based in the Netherlands, in our Tilburg office at least 3 days per week.
Nice to have
- Experience in any of our categories or adjacent consumer hardware.
- Background with e-commerce or DTC brands.
- Mandarin is a plus.
What we offer
- Salary between €3,750 and €4,900 per month, depending on your experience.
- Performance bonus linked to annual goals.
- Flexible working: up to 2 days per week from home.
- Gym allowance: stay fit with a contribution towards your membership.
- Travel expense reimbursement (NS card for example)
- A dynamic, entrepreneurial work environment where your ideas really count.
- Plenty of room for initiative and growth.
- Headquarters in the Spoorzone in Tilburg.
