As a Junior Fish Ecology Researcher at Wageningen Marine Research, you will support research teams with fieldwork, data analysis, and the reporting of results. On board research vessels, you will contribute to fish surveys in Dutch inland and/or coastal waters. As many of our research projects are commissioned by the Dutch government, proficiency in the Dutch language is considered an advantage.
Your responsibilities
As a researcher, your tasks and responsibilities will include:

collecting and processing data (including work on board research vessels);
-
conducting data analysis and statistical analyses;
-
carrying out literature reviews;
-
reporting and presenting research findings.
Your team
You will work alongside experienced researchers in various project teams within Wageningen Marine Research. Your primary workplace will be our research facility in IJmuiden, and you will spend several weeks each year at sea participating in research surveys.
You are accurate, detail-oriented, and enjoy working collaboratively. Within multidisciplinary teams, you are able to develop towards an independent research role in aquatic sciences.
You also have:

a completed MSc degree in Biology or a related field, with a focus on data analysis and statistics;

experience with R and GIS;
-
good command of the Dutch language.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 3,399.- and € 5,478.- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10). Additionally, for this role a contract for 32 hours can be discussed. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended - if possible within (company) organizational circumstances - on good performance. /
