Work at logistics terminals where hundreds of containers arrive daily
As a gas measurement technician, you inspect containers for hazardous gases before they are opened. This ensures employees can unload safely. Without your measurements, the process cannot continue. You work within one region and mainly travel between different terminals in Utrecht and several fixed nearby locations, performing measurements at a fast pace.
Induction period
You will start your induction within our Maritime and Logistics department. During this phase, you learn the profession in practice. You will take many air samples, become familiar with measurement equipment, and gradually learn how to safely supervise work around containers. You will also be trained to supervise the unloading of containers using respiratory protection, after which you will progress to working independently as a gas measurement technician.
After your induction, you will work largely independently. You travel according to schedule between locations and assess containers within agreed timeframes. Measuring, recording, and moving on to the next location continuously alternate. A measurement takes on average 15 to 25 minutes.
Shift structure
You often start around 05:00. You work independently, though at terminals you may sometimes collaborate with colleagues. You work to deadlines so logistics operations can continue smoothly.
Working hours and allowances
We plan based on 8 hours per day. Due to deadlines in the logistics chain, a working day may occasionally be shorter or longer.
Before 06:00: early morning allowance. After 18:00: evening allowance.
Overtime: 130%. Weekend shifts: 150–200%
As a result, your actual monthly income will be higher than the base salary.
