The Opportunity
The role of Assistant Facility Manager / Assistant Grower is integral to the cultivation operations. This position involves supporting the Facility Manager/Head Grower in all phases of cultivation, ensuring that the operations run smoothly and efficiently, particularly for after hours operational coverage. The Assistant Facility Manager will lead by example, following all company policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain a positive, professional, and safe workplace. This role will include working evenings and weekends.
What You'll Do

Serve as “second in command” at the facility, taking on the responsibilities of the Facility Manager/Head Grower in their absence.

Will be assigned direct responsibility for section(s) of the operations.

Support the Facility Manager/Head Grower in managing all activities connected to the site, including all aspects of the crop and quality.

Oversee labor force management and costs, including supporting supervisory functions of greenhouse staff.

Communicate with the Facility Manager/Head Grower regularly to ensure s/he is up to date and aware of all site needs.
Supportive Functions
In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company.

Represent Leli’s brand values: Safety, Responsibility, and Confidence.

Assist with management of all environmental, irrigation, and fertilizations controls, including monitoring water waste.

Assist with overseeing Bees and Biological Pest Control.

Assist in maintaining a clean, efficient, professional and safe workplace at all times, both inside and outside of the greenhouse.
Other Duties
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Leli Holland, a subsidiary of Village Farms International, Inc. from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

Prepare and track production forecasts and assist in the budget process.

Participate in team meetings with other facility managers and assist in conducting meetings with greenhouse staff on a regular basis.

Ensure that all required documentation is completed on time.

What You Bring
Education:
-
Bachelor's degree (“MBO”) in Horticulture or a related field. (REQUIRED)
Experience
-
Experience in greenhouse climate control
-
3+ years of Greenhouse supervisory experience
Licenses and Certifications

Must possess or obtain a spray license (REQUIRED)
