Position overview
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This position is open to support the growing Accounting Operations for the EMEA Region. In this role, you will take on topics related to technical and operational accounting, with a strong focus on inventory operations, ad-hoc projects, and supporting the Month-End Close (MEC) across EMEA. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and scalable accounting processes across the region. Acting as a subject matter expert on inventory and cost accounting, you will work cross-functionally with teams such as Supply Chain and Operations, while contributing to continuous improvement and standardization of accounting practices. This role reports to the Accounting Manager EMEA, based in Amsterdam.
What You'll Do
- Own the cost and inventory process activities, including valuation, reconciliations, and variance analysis (e.g., PPV, obsolescence, write-offs).
- Ensure accurate inventory accounting in line with US GAAP and internal policies.
- Support activities during the Month-End Close, including reconciliations.
- Support financial compliance and audits by gathering and preparing requested information.
- Own and maintain process documentation (SOPs) to ensure audit readiness and consistency.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in policies and procedures and oversee the scoping and implementation of changes.
- Partner cross-functionally (e.g., Supply Chain, Operations) to ensure accuracy of inventory movements and financial data integrity.
- Support and enhance intercompany processes and reconciliations across EMEA entities.
- Collaborate with other members of the Finance Team to implement Finance guidelines and process documentation.
- Provide insights and analysis on inventory and cost trends to support decision-making.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects aimed at improving accounting operations.
- (Where relevant) support or guide junior team members or shared service teams.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally in fast-paced environments such as FMCG, Manufacturing, or Retail.
- Strong knowledge of inventory and cost accounting, including valuation, reconciliations, and variance analysis, combined with US GAAP.
- Proven ability to own processes end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
- Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify issues and proactively drive solutions.
- Comfortable translating complex accounting topics into clear, actionable insights for both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally (e.g., Supply Chain, Operations) in an international environment.
- Thrives in a dynamic, evolving organization, adapting quickly to change and helping build structure where needed.
- Strong Excel skills required; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and/or Power BI is a plus.
- Fluent in English.
