Hunt & Hackett helps European companies prevent, detect and respond to today’s most advanced adversaries, safeguarding them against cyberthreats and espionage. We don’t stir a bit into security strategies; our talented team of responsible rebels shakes them up to build, operate and maintain digital immune systems for our customers to outsmart their digital adversaries.
To extend our multidisciplinary team, we are now hiring a Working Student Threat Intelligence. In case you’re wondering: no, this is not an internship where you grab coffee and observe, but a real, hands-on job with actual responsibilities and a fair salary.
Do you get a kick out of tracking threat actors, analyzing indicators of compromise (IOCs), and helping manage threat intelligence feeds? Are you an organizational superstar who can execute administrative tasks while also diving into technical threat data? Do you belong to the most talented group of threat intelligence professionals in the industry, or is this where you plan to be? Then Hunt & Hackett might be the best next step in your career.
At Hunt & Hackett, we believe that modern cyber security requires a thorough process, a clear vision, and structured data. This means that the ‘pyramid of pain’ is our gospel, truth, and blueprint. As our Threat Intelligence Working Student, you will be in the thick of it, supporting the Threat Intelligence team so that we can continue making data driven decisions.
You’ll help set up, maintain, and feed our Threat Intelligence Management Platform (TIP). You know (or want to learn) which buttons to push to ensure that high-quality, actionable intelligence is disseminated to our internal and external stakeholders. You’ll manage operational IOCs (domain names, IP addresses, hashes) while ensuring we avoid false positives. Beyond the operational data, you’ll also help track tactical intelligence: actor profiles, campaigns, and their tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). From time to time, you'll put your analytical skills to paper, writing reports or blog posts outlining the cyber capabilities of specific threat groups or emerging trends.
But it’s not all pure analysis. You also use your social skills to manage our stakeholders and keep them happy campers.
- Current enrollment in a relevant degree program (e.g., Cyber Security, Foreign affairs, Computer Science, Business & IT, or a related technical/analytical field);
- A detailed, organized, and structured approach to both data and administrative tasks;
- Strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills;
- Familiarity with (or a strong desire to learn) threat intelligence processes, SOC operations, Incident Response, and the 'Pyramid of Pain';
- Technically capability or basic scripting experience (e.g., Python) to help automate routine data-ingestion tasks;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams;
- Fluency in English (proficiency in Dutch is a plus);
- Availability for a minimum of 16 hours per week, with flexible planning to easily fit around your study schedule.
Please note, we encourage candidates to reach out and apply, even if you believe you may not meet all the requirements. At Hunt & Hackett, we look at the individual's potential for growth and we are happy to help you build the necessary skills along the way.
- A monthly salary, of course (this is a real job with responsibilities, not an unpaid internship);
- The opportunity to safeguard Europe’s leading organizations;
- A unique culture of ‘responsible rebellion’ where you can learn from the best to get the most out of yourself;
- A proper laptop to get the job done;
- Plenty of time and opportunity to develop yourself with regards to Threat Intelligence, SOC, Incident Response, and Red Teaming;
- Being part of a winning team, with room for fun, learning, and developing yourself;
- Compensation for your travel costs;
- Daily lunch is on us, we prepare and enjoy it as a team;
- This is a temporary position for 6 months, with a strong potential for extension.
Only (very) talented, multidisciplinary teams of threat hunters, intelligence analysts, reverse engineers, data scientists, developers and hackers are able to outsmart the increasingly professional community of cyber attackers. We pride ourselves as a force for the good and as such we think and act as responsible rebels. We are not ‘just another security company’, and our people are not ‘just employees’. Everyone at Hunt & Hackett wants to be the best in their field and focuses on delivering next-gen levels of service. This means that we live by these core values:
- Security first: a foundational core value that underscores our company's unwavering commitment to prioritizing security in all aspects of our operations.
- Pushing the envelope: Everyone on our teams takes the responsibility to make our work better every day, by being creative to color outside of the lines if needed.
- Everything is important: Tiny details have a huge impact, especially in security. We are system thinkers who oversee the big picture and who are simultaneously obsessive about details. That’s why we champion tradecraft.
- Perseverance: To become successful, you will have to endure challenges, errors, failures and obstacles along the way. These may take weeks, months, or years to overcome.
- Ego is the enemy: Ego ultimately prevents us from learning, holds us back and makes us overreach. It is therefore important to battle that inner force that destroys great empires, companies, careers and tears apart relationships.
