We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to support our Netherlands & Belgium team with daily financial operations and reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and experience working in an international environment, along with fluency in English and Dutch.
Main Purpose of the role:
To support the supervision and development of the accounting team while ensuring accurate financial operations, regulatory compliance, effective reporting, and business continuity, as well as serving as a key finance partner for management and regional stakeholders within an international environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead end-to-end accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings in compliance with local regulations and reporting standards.

Supervise and develop the Finance team by overseeing performance, KPIs, training, and business continuity while contributing to regional and global finance projects.

Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, internal controls, audits, and SAP finance processes to support efficient financial operations.

Prepare financial statements, statutory reports, budgets, and periodic financial analyses to support business performance and management decision-making.

Oversee tax compliance, reporting obligations, and relationships with relevant authorities while ensuring adherence to internal policies and external legal requirements.

Act as a trusted financial advisor to the Country Manager and provide guidance on financial strategy, risk management, and process improvements.

Ensure effective management of corporate and administrative matters, including contracts, insurance, and other compliance-related obligations.

Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting, accounting processes, and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency and governance.
Requirements:
- Certified Accountant with expertise in Finance, Accounting, Reporting, or Tax.

Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in finance or accounting.

Experience in accounting or finance roles within international or global organizations.

Strong analytical skills, reliability, and a high standard of professional ethics.

Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Solid knowledge of finance and accounting principles and proficiency in MS Office.

Experience with SAP; knowledge of the shipping industry is an advantage.

Fluent business-level English and Dutch.
Willingness to participate in regional and global finance projects.
