As Senior Business Controller, you’ll help MR MARVIS grow faster and more efficiently across retail, e-commerce and operations. You’ll own reporting, budgeting and forecasting, but your real impact will come from challenging assumptions, building business cases and turning financial insight into clear commercial actions.
MR MARVIS is an Amsterdam-based men's clothing brand launched in 2016, dedicated to creating the perfect shorts, trousers and tops. You’ll work closely with the Head of Finance and CFO, acting as a business control partner across MR MARVIS. You’ll own the rhythm around reporting, budgeting and forecasting, while helping teams across Retail, E-commerce and Operations make better financial decisions.
Business Control Rhythm: Own the budgeting, target-setting and reforecasting cycles, including budget rounds, half-year reforecasting and financial planning across the business.
Management Reporting: Deliver monthly performance reporting to the Management Team, clearly explaining financial results, risks, opportunities and recommended actions.
Commercial Performance: Analyse performance across Retail, E-commerce and Operations, from sales, margins and store KPIs through to cost drivers and online marketing efficiency.
Business Partnering: Partner proactively with budget holders across the business to improve profitability, stay within budget and make better commercial decisions.
Growth & Efficiency: Identify cost risks, growth opportunities and efficiency improvements, then translate them into practical recommendations for budget holders and leadership.
Business Cases: Build and challenge business cases for new stores, investments and growth initiatives, helping teams secure MT buy-in where the numbers make sense.
Process Improvement: Improve business control processes so Finance can provide faster, clearer and more useful insight to the business.
Essential
~5 years finance experience, including +3 years of hands-on Business Control or FP&A/Commercial Finance experience.
Finance Foundation: You have built a solid finance foundation through experience, education or professional training. What matters most is that you can apply it commercially: understanding budgets, forecasts, management reporting and the drivers behind business performance.
Strong Excel skills (Vlookups/pivots etc) and confidence working with raw data, checks, dashboards and financial models
Hands-on mentality: you enjoy diving into details while keeping the bigger picture in mind
Strong communicator who can translate financial insights into clear business language
Structured, reliable and comfortable taking ownership, including supporting a Junior Business Controller.
Nice-to-have
Retail, e-commerce, D2C, consumer goods or multi-site experience is a strong plus.
Proactive and comfortable in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment where processes are still being built.
