What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Market Development & Regulatory Compliance Lead to support the scaling up of our battery trading & optimization function into European electricity markets with Autobidder. Autobidder is our in-house developed advanced algorithmic trading platform which maximizes the value of storage by forecasting prices, analyzing market trends, and optimizing operations in real time.
In this role, you will strengthen Tesla’s internal policies and procedures to ensure our commercial operations are in good standing with market rules and governing regulatory obligations. You’ll collaborate closely with engineering, policy, finance, and commercial teams to secure and maintain the necessary market licenses and registrations, while navigating complex regulatory environments. This position is highly cross-functional and critical to Tesla’s expansion into new energy markets.
We’re looking for a driven professional with strong market knowledge, proven regulatory experience, and the ability to thrive in dynamic, evolving environments.
What You'll Do-
Define requirements and partner with commercial teams to design business processes, systems, and operations to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory obligations and market rules including REMIT.

Develop and oversee compliance and risk management frameworks, including reporting, audits, and responses to regulatory or operator requests.

Maintain Tesla’s standing with regulatory authorities and system operators; escalate risks and support dispute resolution for fines or penalties.

Monitor and interpret policy and regulatory developments; collaborate with Policy & Legal teams to proactively engage stakeholders and shape market design for energy storage assets.

Coordinate with global Tesla teams (Policy, Engineering, Product, Commercial, Legal) to build scalable business functions aligned with Tesla’s fast-paced execution culture.
What You'll Bring-
Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory frameworks, and to communicate them effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Strong understanding of European electricity markets and energy trading Experience with developing compliance and risk management frameworks, internal policies and procedures to address compliance obligations related to operating in electricity markets

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with fluency in English and another European language such as German or French
