Aligma is a microalgae company developing and trading algae-based products across supplements, food ingredients, animal feed, pet food, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural inputs. We operate across Europe and Southeast Asia, with commercial entities in the Netherlands and Singapore. Our ambition is to become a leading supplier of algae feedstock and finished products to industrial and commercial buyers — and we are building the sales infrastructure to match.
Role Summary
We are looking for a commercially sharp, well-connected Salesperson to drive B2B sales of algae feedstock and ingredients across European markets. You bring an existing network in one or more of the following sectors: Animal Feed, Pet Food, Pharma, Food Ingredients, or Supplements. You know how to open doors, move deals forward, and build long-term client relationships. This is a hunter-plus-farmer role, you will both generate new business and manage ongoing accounts.
This role suits someone who understands the algae supply chain, speaks the language of ingredient buyers and procurement teams, and can represent Aligma credibly in commercial negotiations across Europe.

Key Responsibilities
1 Business Development & Prospecting
– Identify, approach, and qualify European buyers of algae feedstock and algae-based ingredients including cold calling
– Build and maintain a pipeline of active opportunities across target sectors
– Represent Aligma at trade shows, industry events, and buyer meetings
– Develop outreach strategies tailored to each sector and buyer profile
2 Account Management
– Own the full sales cycle, from initial contact through negotiation, close, and repeat business
– Maintain strong, trust-based relationships with existing and new clients
– Ensure client satisfaction by coordinating with internal logistics and operations teams
– Proactively identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within accounts
3 Trading & Commercial Execution
– Negotiate pricing, volumes, and contract terms in line with company margin targets
– Coordinate with internal trading, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth order execution
– Monitor market pricing for algae feedstock and flag commercial opportunities or risks
– Manage and track orders, delivery confirmations, and post-sale follow-up
4 Market Intelligence & Reporting
– Provide regular market feedback to management, demand trends, competitor activity, pricing dynamics
– Identify emerging opportunities in new sectors or geographies
– Maintain accurate CRM records of all client interactions, pipeline stages, and deal status
– Contribute to go-to-market planning and product positioning based on buyer insights
5 Partnerships & Supplier Relations
– Leverage existing network of algae suppliers and buyers to accelerate deal flow
– Support sourcing and procurement discussions where client requirements exceed current stock
– Build relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and brokers in target sectors
Qualifications & Experience
Required
– Fluent in English, written and spoken, Dutch and other languages optional
– Minimum 2–5 years of B2B sales or international trading experience
– Demonstrable network in one or more of: Animal Feed, Pet Food, Pharma, Food Ingredients, Supplements
– Proven ability to independently manage a sales pipeline and close deals
– Strong negotiation skills with experience in commodity or ingredient trading environments
– Excellent cross-cultural communication and relationship-building skills
– Self-directed, able to operate remotely with minimal supervision
Strongly Preferred
– Direct experience selling algae, microalgae, or algae-derived products
– Existing buyer or procurement contacts in European ingredient or feed markets
– Familiarity with algae product specifications, grades, and supply chain dynamics
– Additional European language (German, French, or Spanish) is an advantage
We will also consider candidates with:
– Early-stage B2B exposure or 2–3 years in algae or specialty ingredient sales who can demonstrate strong commercial instincts and an existing network, even if not yet at senior level
