BusyBoat is looking for 3 outgoing freelance Dock Hosts to work with an Amsterdam canal-tour operator.
This is not a typical hospitality role. You'll be the first person many guests meet — welcoming them, helping them board and, importantly, talking to tourists passing the dock and turning interest into boat-tour bookings.
What you'll do
- Welcome and check in guests
- Help guests board the boats
- Talk to tourists passing the dock
- Explain the different canal-tour options
- Actively sell boat-tour tickets
- Help keep the dock organised and welcoming
- Work alongside the skippers and dock team
Who we're looking for
Personality matters more than boat experience.
You'll be a great fit if you are:
- Confident and naturally outgoing
- Comfortable approaching and speaking with new people
- Friendly, energetic and positive
- Interested in sales and motivated by commission
- Reliable and professional
- Comfortable working outdoors in central Amsterdam
- Able to communicate confidently in English
Dutch and other languages are a plus, but boat experience is not required.
Flexible availability
Work is available throughout the week, including weekends.
Shifts can fall approximately between 11:00 and 23:00, and availability can be discussed around your schedule. Day, evening and longer shifts may be possible.

Earnings
Competitive freelance base rate plus sales commission.
Strong sales performance can significantly increase your daily earnings, with top-performing days potentially reaching up to €320.
Your exact freelance rate and availability will be discussed during the selection process.
Freelance / self-employed
This opportunity is for freelancers. You must be legally able to work as a self-employed professional in the Netherlands and have, or be able to arrange where applicable, the required Chamber of Commerce/VAT registration before starting.
