Senior DevOps Engineer – Payments & Settlements Platform

A leading international bank is scaling the engineering unit behind its payments and settlements platforms. Small autonomous squads, a strong DevOps culture, and high ownership. The stack is Java/Spring (JPA, JMS, Streaming, Batch) deployed via Azure DevOps – you’ll extend and harden the payment engine, its APIs and microservices.
What you’ll do
You’ll own the full stack across Dev, Test, Acceptance and Production, and automate relentlessly with Ansible, pipelines and scripting. That covers regression testing (functional, performance, security), deployments and operations (failover, backup/restore, monitoring), lifecycle management of OS/middleware/database, and security (certificates, access, patching). You’ll work in an Agile squad against a TPO-prioritised backlog, improve observability (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK), support HA/DR testing, and document IT risk and security controls.
What you bring
- 5+ years in DevOps
- A config/automation tool (Ansible, Chef, Salt, Terraform)
- Azure DevOps or Google Cloud
- Monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana or ELK
- Strong Red Hat/RHEL (cert preferred) and networking; clustered environments
- CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Git, Sonar, Checkmarx)
- A virtualisation/container tech (VMware, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
- Automation with Python/Shell/Ansible; REST APIs, SRE concepts, RDBMS fundamentals
- Strong communication and a drive to improve
Nice to have: Spring Boot, low-latency infra, security/IT risk (SOX), Tibco EMS/MQ, WebSphere, advanced English, relevant degree.
