Job Purpose
The Lead Internal Auditor is responsible for leading and executing complex internal audits across multiple business functions and subsidiaries to improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, compliance, and governance processes. The role provides independent and objective assurance to senior management and stakeholders while ensuring audits are conducted in accordance with the Global Internal Auditing Standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
Key Responsibilities
Audit Planning & Execution
- Lead and deliver complex internal audits, investigations, and special reviews across multiple business functions and subsidiaries.
- Develop audit objectives, scope, methodology, and resource requirements, ensuring audits are completed in accordance with professional standards and approved plans.
- Assess the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Audit Compliance & Risk Assessment
- Lead a portfolio of audits covering business, financial, compliance, and technology risks, including cybersecurity, cloud, SAP, digital transformation, data governance, AI, and ITGCs.
- Identify control weaknesses and emerging risks, recommend corrective actions, and provide insights on regulatory requirements, audit standards, and industry best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, presenting audit findings and recommendations to drive effective risk management and business improvement.
- Provide advisory support on governance, compliance, and internal controls, while conducting special reviews and shareholder audits as required.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare high-quality audit reports and data-driven insights, while monitoring remediation actions and implementation progress.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen controls, enhance operational efficiency, and support business performance.
Advisory & Special Assignments
- Conduct advisory engagements, High Spot Reviews (HSRs), and provide specialist guidance on governance, compliance, and internal control matters.
- Lead shareholder audits, support external audit activities, and undertake special audit leadership assignments as required.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop cross-functional audit teams, ensuring successful delivery of audit objectives while mentoring and coaching junior auditors.
- Drive continuous improvement of audit methodologies, procedures, and strategy, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and professional growth.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, IT, Engineering.
Professional Certifications
CIA, CPA, CISA, CFE certification preferred; a relevant Master’s degree is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive auditing experience, including leading complex audits, investigations, and audit teams in multinational or large corporate environments.
- Strong experience in governance, risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance; exposure to IT Audit, Cybersecurity, SAP, Digital Risk, Data Analytics, Cloud Controls, and ITGCs is highly desirable.
