To support our continued growth and professionalisation, we are looking for an R&D Manager who will lead the way in technical innovation, team development and the modernisation of our work processes.
Your role:
As R&D Manager, you will lead the existing R&D team and be responsible for developing, improving and safeguarding our technical designs and processes. You will actively contribute to design work while using your experience to elevate the department to the next level.
You will spend approximately 50% of your time on design work and 50% on leadership, project coordination and process development.
Your Responsibilities
Team & Department
- Lead, coach and support the current R&D team.
- Modernise work methods, processes and tools within the department.
- Implement structures and workflows that strengthen collaboration, efficiency and clarity.
Technical Work
- Create 3D designs and 2D drawings (SolidWorks).
- Review all existing technical drawings and update them where necessary.
- Ensure quality, consistency and complete documentation across all designs.
Project Management & Customer Interaction
- Manage technical projects from start to finish.
- Commmunicate with customers and internal stakeholders throughout the project.
- Make decisions, initiate improvements and implement changes effectively.
Process Development
- Define and implement a state‑of‑the‑art methodology for revision management; naming conventions; classification and storage of technical drawings.
- Develop tools and internal workflows that enhance team cohesion and efficiency.
Who You Are
You have a solid technical background, a modern vision for R&D processes and a strong drive for continuous improvement.
You bring:
- A higher technical education, preferably in mechanical engineering.
- Background or training as a technical designer.
- Excellent knowledge of 3D design software, especially SolidWorks.
- Demonstrated successful experience as an R&D Manager.
- Strong experience in managing technical projects.
- Knowledge of ISO13485 and/or ISO9001.
- Experience with the R&D of Medical Devices under EU MDR is a plus.
- Experience with drafting of Technical Dossier documents for EU MDR Compliance is a plus.
- Professional proficiency in Dutch and English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to make decisions and drive change.
- A dynamic, motivated and solution‑oriented mindset.
