About the role
Intermodal Telematics is a world-leading independent telematics solution partner for the tankcontainer and rail wagon industry. We manufacture and sell a wide, ATEX-certified productline of sensors and telematics gateways, produced and tested at our manufacturing facilities in Breda.
As a Python Software Engineer in the Engineering Department, reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will own software projects end to end, from design through deployment and maintenance. You’ll build the applications that test and verify our products, the cloud services those applications talk to, and the integrations that push results into our ERP system. You’ll work closely with Hardware and Firmware Engineers, R&D, and manufacturing and production teams, so you’re comfortable moving between deep technical work and clear communication with non-technical colleagues.
What you’ll do
- Take ownership of software projects: scope, design, build, deploy, and maintain them with minimal supervision.
- Design, build, and maintain automated testing and verification systems for both manufacturing and product development.
- Build and deploy backend services and full-stack applications on Google Cloud Platform.
- Integrate test systems and applications with our ERP so product data and test results are registered reliably.
- Interface with our in-house cloud test systems.
- Ensure products and tooling adhere to company and industry quality standards.
Must-haves
- Strong, hands-on Python.
- Production experience with a Python backend framework(Django or FastAPI)
- Designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Solid grasp of relational databases / SQL.
- Containerization fundamentals (Docker).
- Building and deploying full-stack applications on Google Cloud Platform.
- Version control with Git.
- Comfortable working in Agile teams and tooling.
- Able to work independently and take ownership once given direction.
- Clear written and spoken communication in English with both technical and non- technical staff.
Nice to have
- CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment.
- GUI development in Python (PyQt / PySide).
- Document-oriented databases (Google Firestore).
- Python web apps (Dash).
- Working knowledge of Dutch.
- Basic understanding of C.
- Basic understanding of electronic hardware and components.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes.
Education & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- A track record of building and shipping production software (rough guide: 2-4 years).
What we offer
- 40 hours per week.
- Hybrid working, 2 fixed days from home (Tuesday and Friday).
- €40,000–50,000 annual salary depending on experience, excluding holiday pay.
- 8% holiday allowance.
- 25 holiday days per year.
- Pension plan with 2/3 employer coverage.
- Travel allowance (up to 75 km)
