As our Transport BNL Manager, you will hold the keys to our entire supply chain network across Belgium, the Netherlands, Danemark and Luxembourg. This is a unique hybrid role designed for a sharp professional who thrives on being hands-on in resolving daily logistical puzzles, while also possessing the strategic mindset required to negotiate high-stakes 3PL contracts and optimize our overall cost per shipment.
Based in Mechelen or Amsterdam, you will report directly to the Regional Ops BNL and work hand-in-hand with our Customer Service and Workshop teams to build an airtight transport machine.
Carrier Management & Negotiation: Lead requests for proposals (RFPs), negotiate shipping rates, and hold contract reviews with 3PL partners and local carriers to optimize costs without compromising delivery times.
End-to-End Flow Optimization: Manage and coordinate both inbound (bike collections from individuals, retail shops, and manufacturers) and outbound flows (direct-to-consumer and bike shops deliveries).
Operational Firefighting & CS Support: Build clear, reliable pickup and delivery schedules. Act as the ultimate escalation point for daily transport anomalies, providing real-time visibility to our Customer Service team.
Claims & Dispute Resolution: Design and enforce a rigorous claims management process. Own the tracking of lost or damaged shipments and aggressively defend Upway’s financial interests against carrier discrepancies.
Performance Tracking (KPIs): Set up dashboards to closely monitor delivery success rates, lead times, and transport budgets, translating data into immediate operational adjustments.
Experience: 4 to 5 years of experience in transport, freight forwarding, or logistics management. Background in e-commerce (especially bulky/heavy goods) or the mobility industry is highly valued.
Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of buying freight services and negotiating service level agreements (SLAs) with major logistics players in the BNL region.
Languages: Native or fully fluent in Dutch, with excellent professional English. French is a distinct advantage.
Problem-Solving: You are extremely resilient, data-driven, and capable of keeping a cool head when a carrier drops a route or a shipment goes missing.
Mindset: You love logistics because it’s alive. You are just as comfortable talking strategy and margins with corporate directors as you are getting your hands dirty with drivers on the warehouse dock.
