What to Expect
Tesla's Autobidder team develops trading strategies and systematic software for energy storage systems, optimizing dispatch in electricity markets through price forecasting, trend analysis, and real-time operations. Our proven solutions span residential, commercial, and utility-scale applications.
As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will be the technical representative of Autobidder for all customer conversations across Europe. You will lead overview presentations, run live demos, and provide in-depth technical clarifications, while owning the technical side of the commercial offering and contracting. Acting as the regional product expert, you will translate customer needs into an actionable product offering and serve as the bridge between customers and Tesla's Market Analysis, Sales, product, and engineering teams.
Ideal candidates combine deep knowledge of electricity markets and energy storage with a customer-first mindset. You are comfortable guiding decisions under uncertainty, communicating technical insights across all levels, and leading complex, cross-functional deals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
What You'll Do
- Technical representative for Autobidder: Act as the technical face of Autobidder in all customer conversations across Europe – delivering overview presentations, running live demos, and providing in-depth technical clarifications throughout the sales cycle.
-
Commercial offering: Own the translation of Market Analysis outputs (market fundamentals and long-term revenue forecasts) into inputs the Sales teams can use, and review commercial offers to ensure they are technically sound and make sense.
-
Contracting: Support and participate in commercial negotiations of all contracts from a technical perspective – join advanced contract negotiations, ensure all technical considerations are addressed, in coordination with the Autobidder engineering teams (Algorithm, Platform, Operations) and Megapack teams (Sales Engineering, Controls, Firmware, Product).
-
Market entry involvement: Align with regional market-entry leads and ensure market-entry plans are translated to customers, engaging the relevant internal stakeholders at the right time.
-
Regional product expert: Serve as the regional voice of the product – translating customer needs into an actionable product offering in close collaboration with local engineering teams and the global product manager.
What You'll Bring-
5+ years of technical experience in the electricity industry – e.g., sales engineering, energy trading/optimization, or quantitative electricity-market analysis; battery storage experience a strong plus
-
Deep knowledge of electricity markets, energy trading, and BESS dispatch optimization, with strong analytical skills (complex pricing models, project economics, techno-economic optimization, and quantitative risk analysis)

Proven technical pre-sales or sales-engineering expertise, including translating complex technical concepts into clear customer value and supporting the structuring, negotiating, and contracting of complex commercial offers
-
Confident presenting to and running live software/product demos for external customers and senior stakeholders
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to customers and internal teams and to build trusted relationships
-
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects in fast-paced, dynamic environments
-
Fluency in English and ideally another European language; willingness to travel up to 25%
-
A genuine passion for accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy
