About the team and the role:
The Global Treasury Controlling team plays a significant role in safeguarding eBay’s cash, investments, and capital structure while supporting our mission to create economic opportunity for all. As part of the broader Finance organization, the team partners closely with Treasury, FP&A, Tax, SOX and other Accounting functions to ensure accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial results!
In this role, you will be a key owner of treasury-related accounting, financial controlling, and month-end close activities for a global, multi-entity, multi-currency environment. You will coordinate across teams to overview our international cash management activities, financial controlling for other income and expenses, while driving improvements in execution, automation, and strong SOX controls. This position is based in our Amsterdam office and reports into the Head of Global Treasury Controlling under a hybrid working model!
What you will accomplish:
- Lead treasury accounting and controlling activities for global liquidity, including in-house banking, intercompany capital, cash ledgering, and monitoring of interest income and bank fees, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close.
- Be responsible for the end-to-end accounting and close process for share repurchase and dividend programs, including validation of trades, excise tax reporting, DWAC reporting, accruals, and payment reconciliations in collaboration with Stock Administration, Tax, and Corporate Finance.
- Drive high-quality financial reporting by completing key and non-key balance sheet reconciliations, supervising other income and expenses, resolving GL interface issues between the Treasury Management System and ERP, and clearly communicating actuals versus forecasts.
- Prepare and present monthly Treasury accounting results, insights, and variance analyses to senior leadership, and partner with the Financial Reporting team on SEC disclosure support for cash, treasury stock, and other income and expense items.
- Strengthen eBay’s control environment by coordinating quarterly close certification letters, managing SOX controls and testing for Treasury, and serving as a central point of contact across internal stakeholders and auditors.
- Lead and support special projects such as Treasury Workstation improvements, process flow and accounting configuration changes, and automation initiatives that improve reporting, reconciliations, and control evidence, with opportunities to explore emerging tools including agentic AI.
What you will bring:
- (Required) Bachelor’s degree or (Preferred) Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in treasury accounting and/or controlling in a large organization, or relevant public accounting (e.g., Big Four) experience focused on financial transactions.
- (Required) Proven analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including the ability to explain sophisticated treasury and accounting topics to non-finance partners, deliver executive-level reporting, challenge assumptions, identify risks, and drive operational improvements in a fast-paced close environment.
- (Required) A collaborative, process-improvement perspective with experience designing, documenting, and testing controls; confident working in a global, multi-currency, multi-entity setting; and commitment to a hybrid working model with three days per week onsite in Austin, TX.
- (Required) Strong technical accounting foundation under US GAAP, particularly in cash, investments, debt, derivatives, foreign exchange, and hedge accounting, with hands-on experience in balance sheet reconciliations, account substantiation, and financial statement analysis.
- (Preferred) Experience supporting SEC reporting and SOX compliance, including tie-outs and disclosure support for cash and treasury stock, internal controls over financial reporting, coordination with internal and external audit teams, and audit readiness.
- (Preferred) Experience with Treasury Management Systems (ideally FIS Quantum) and ERP platforms (preferably SAP S4), sophisticated Excel skills, and familiarity with automation or analytics tools such as SQL, Python, or Alteryx to enhance reporting and controls.
