About Steenland Chocolate
Founded in 1899, Steenland Chocolate is a Dutch chocolate manufacturer based in Gouda. We produce high-quality chocolate products for customers worldwide, with around 95% of our production exported.
With approximately 80 permanent employees and up to 150 employees during the high season, we are a dynamic and international production environment. Since 2017, Steenland Chocolate has been part of SINO-PACIFIC TRADING CO., LTD.
Your role
As Food Safety Team Leader, you are a key member of the organisation and take ownership of food safety, quality and compliance across the production site.
You lead the food safety and quality agenda, advise management and work closely with Production, QC, R&D, Purchasing and other departments. You are both strategic and hands-on, ensuring that food safety standards are not only maintained but continuously improved.
Your responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve the Food Safety & Quality Management System.
- Own and maintain HACCP, GMP, allergen management, traceability, food defence and food fraud systems.
- Ensure compliance with BRCGS, Dutch/EU legislation, customer requirements and internal standards.
- Lead food safety and quality risk assessments.
- Coordinate internal, external, customer and certification audits.
- Lead investigations of non-conformities, complaints and quality incidents, including root-cause analysis and CAPA.
- Monitor food safety and quality performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee specifications, certificates, procedures, work instructions and document control.
- Develop and strengthen the company's food safety culture.
- Lead and develop the Food Safety/Quality team.
- Coach and challenge colleagues across the organisation and act as a trusted quality partner to management.
- Keep up to date with developments in food legislation, standards and industry best practices.
What we are looking for
- HBO or WO degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Quality Management or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in food safety, QA/QC or quality management within the food industry.
- Demonstrated experience with HACCP and BRCGS; knowledge of food defence, food fraud and allergen management is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Dutch and European food legislation.
- Experience leading audits, investigations, risk assessments and improvement projects.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to influence and coach colleagues at all levels.
- Strong analytical, organisational and decision-making skills.
- A proactive, independent and hands-on approach.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
- The confidence to challenge decisions and practices where food safety or product quality may be at risk.
